Nostradamus did not predict 2012 as the end of the world, that was a year in the Mayan Calendar as Doomsday. Having psychic abilities myself, that is not the end of the world. I hate to say it and people will probably say many mean things, but it goes as this ....
Things will start by troops being taken out of Iraq. Terrorists will secure Iraq from Afghanistan led by a woman (Prime Minister or in some other position of power) and Bin Laden (yes, he is still alive and hiding in Afghanistan). They have already secured locations in the US that the FBI and other Government Agencies have knowledge of but are only speculating at this time ... they plan to attack when the new president is elected. Since what I have seen, it is going to be Obama, not Clinton .... in the next two years we (as in, the US) is going to receive a systematic chain reaction in our downfall ... I had seen many bodies that looked like they were dead wearing robes and facing the East. There was a very bright object in the Eastern Sky that looked like the sun but it was brighter.
I have wrote a letter to the president saying what I had seen but they wrote me off .... so I guess we will have to wait and see. I hope I am not right.

Nostadamus didn't actually predict that.
After you get older, and 2012 passes on by, you'll find people telling you that he predicted 2020 or some other number. I've seen the story change several times now, from 92, 96, 98, 2000, 2004, etc.
If you are particularly interested in Nostradamus find some of his original writings. I once read a book that had his original text, followed by a direct translation, and then the modern interpretation of the direct translation. Although this book was written to support the idea that he predicted our future, the difference between the direct translation and the interpretation was striking. In other words, people take great liberties when translating and interpreting his work. Don't believe for a minute that he predicted anything at all that has come true. He hasn't. From WW2 to 9/11, from assassinations and economic depressions, his actual words did not predict these events at all.
The Mayan calendar does start over in the year 2012. Many people see this as the end of the world as their calendar "ends" in that year. But this is due to people not understanding that the Mayan calendar is circular. Just as Saturday is the end of the week on our calendar, this is not the end of the world but instead is followed by Sunday -- the start of a new week. The Mayan calendar works the same way, the years on their calendar will start over again in 2012.

No it wasn't.
It was also widely publicized that 2000 was the end and 1900 and 2004 and 2006.
The significance of the year 2012 is that the Mayan calender ends on December 22, 2012. As the Mayans were incredibly advanced at tracking the heavens (and thus the months) many have decided that since they stopped the calendar in 2012 the end of the world must be coming.
And no matter how many times the name Nostradamus is thrown out their is somebody who says he predicted things that are happening now.
He was just a fortune teller and political activist who had a knack for making vague "predictions" that can be interpreted multiple ways. In reality he was so vague and wrote in prose because had he stated his true political opinions he would have been killed in a heartbeat.

This was not the prediction of Nostradamus, it is the year that the Mayan calendar ends, which many people take to mean that it is when the world also ends.
I personally don't believe that we know the time or date that the world will end and therefore do not believe that it will necessarily end in 2012.

The Mayans predicted the end of the world in 2012; Nostradamus predicted the end of the world in Sept. 1999. Just between you and I; I think that he was wrong. What's your guess?

Nostradamus never predicted end of the world in 2012. According to Nostradamus world war 3 was expected around 1998~1999. Everything in the cosmic world results from the residual balance of karma. As the residual balance of karma of total humanity in 1998~1999 did not warrant start of world war 3... It did not happen!
The occurrence of world war 3 would not be a chance happening. All would be the result of mass karma of 6500 million people world over. The world war 3 did not occur in 1998~1999 as the masses aware of the outcome of a nuclear world war started praying with the hope that God Almighty indefinitely delay world war 3.
In 2003, the expectation of world war 3 rose but things again fizzled out! In the present... the karma of the present community dictates the coming of world war 3 around 2012! Beyond 2014 is the golden era... a new beginning altogether! Between 2012 and 2014 the community would witness the fiercest nuclear war ever fought on Mother Earth.
We are presently passing through the Kali Yuga phase of life (the darkest hour of the night) when adharma (lawlessness) is at its peak. Bogged by wanton desires and dominated by the ego within most human beings engross themselves in materialistic pursuits of life. With no reprieve in sight, Human values take a back seat!
The means have become an end in itself. Might is right is the order of the day. In such circumstances it is only an Avatar of the era (God manifest in human form) who re-establishes Dharma (righteousness)! Bhagwan Kalki... an Avatar of the Kali Yuga is awaited with abated breath... a one-man army who shall single-handedly bring about a phenomenal change!
The year 2012 shall be remembered in the history of mankind forever. Annihilation of 1200 million people... a fight to the finish between Christianity and Islam Dharma... almost 20% population of the world wiped out... the humanity would have learnt it lessons! Spirituality again would come to fore... materialistic tendencies getting wiped out altogether! More on 2012 End of the World - http://www.godrealized.com/2012.html

There have been countless predictions about when the world is going to end and none of them have proven true yet. The main difference is, human beings now have the power to destroy the world themselves. The way things are going, 2012 does not seem too absurd, someone just has to screw up enough to make it happen. I suppose that eventually, someone's prediction will be right but nobody is going to be around to say I told you so!

Honeslty You never know what will happen in this day and age. There is so much hatred and violence. Most all the very strong coutries have nukes. Which is a dangerous thing. Let me tell you how I see the end of the world happening. Some other country sends off a nuke U.S. see's it and sends one back in retaliation even before the nuke hits the U.S. Other nuke countries see this as a way to win over our country and we are nuked also by them. U. S. panic's as it should and nuke war gets out of hand. The amount of debri and and radioactivity are released into the air is enourmous due to how many nukes were released creating a complete black out of the whole planet. It will take many many many years for all the debri and cloud to settle killing most animals and plant life due to the inability to recieve suns rays etc. eventually over time all human and animal life are unable to survive. Hey I look at it like this If someone Is going to succed in taking out whole country over and killing all the americans it's not going to be without a fight and as ignorant as it is. If we americans can have america then no one will. There will never be peace on a planet as long as humans live it's a fact of life. Some of you people may not want to hear this but it is a good possibility, ignorance is bliss I guess, but it is still ignorance!
