I'm Welsh, I speak Welsh, I was born in Wales.
I also have a British passport so I am British too. I am Welsh and British.
The English media are strange ..if a Welsh/Scottish person does well in a sport he/she is referred to as British.
If an English person does well he/she is referred to as English.
If a Welsh/ Scottish person does badly he/she is referred to as..Welsh/Scottish.
If an English person does badly, he/she is referred to as British.
Have you not noticed??

Because i don't feel British i feel Scottish. I don't think we have an overall cultural unity between us if i am honest. I feel more closer to the Welsh and Irish as we are all Celts of some description but i honestly don't feel any affinity with the English at all. I know what as a Scot makes me Scottish i don't know anything i could describe that makes me feel "British". I assume that is how others feel about being English, welsh and Irish too that a welsh man feels welsh etc. I mean for example when in athletics etc would you back a welsh man or an English man? I don't dislike any of them but you naturally feel patriotic towards your own country don't you think?

im a leicestersian from birth and became a yellow belly(lincolnshire) through the teens- moved to Wales and it being the longest time ive spent as its 20 yrs now- cant stand the welsh language(no offence intended if anyones from wales. Im british thru and thru,my fathers irish so i cant technically say im English e'en tho my mums english. there are those wars that people of a certain age cant let go eg wales v england / scotlnd v england. The Scots and the Welsh are renowned for their sourfaced attitudes towards the english as my sister married a Scott and his mum has given the impression to lots of people that shed hoped for a scottish daughter in law-so there u have it,it gives ppl pleasure that they can seperate themselves from other 'brits' and just be that scot/eng/irish etc.

I say British! If they ask to be more specific, I say Scottish. You should be proud to say British or Scottish or English or Welsh or Northern Irish. Remember, the only people who will ask this question are Johnny foreigners and they should accept anything we say!

I'm from a state in the united states. People here say I'M a New Yorker or I'm a Californian because there is a difference
If your From The state of New Jersey and you say Exit 20. Or down the shore. Or what an Italian Hot dog is. No one else in the world is gonna know unless your from Jersey. I suspect the same goes for anywhere else on earth.
WE American just have to stick our nose into everything don't we. We are all Americans here when the sh*t hits the fan though. It seems to us that So are the British.

This is an easy question to answer. I am British and English although I will refer to myself as english first.
I am english because I was born in England.
I am British because I live in one of the countries which form Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales)
The United Kingdom official title is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

People tend to associate with the region they live, so it would be unusual to use British. The exception maybe while on holiday, as some foreigners may not recognise Welsh etc.

because we are english, we come from the country england, birtain in a colony, not a country, you don't hear the americans saying "i'm USAan" or people in england or france or whatever saying "im europian" they'd say they were french or english or whatever.
there are also other reasons why people call themselves english etc. and thats becuase they go by the rule "anyone who comes into the country can call themselves british, all they need to do is get hold of a passport". you know, with all the immegrants and stuff. but i just say i'm english cos i just do, no reason for it at all, i just do.

It is when we are patriotic of our own country. Do you hear
a Scotsman say 'I'm British' or the same for the Welsh
and Irish.
I INSIST on putting English when filling in forms it says British or other. Because I come from ENGLAND. And proud of it I may say.

Not sure, I confess that I'd admitted to being British and English. I think it's the old us and them thing with the 3 other countries, it shouldn't be like that but it is. You've got me thinking on that one now :)
