I have decided, to experiment with my second child (19 months) and see if she will turn out more disciplined, "moral" and spiritual than my eldest child, now almost 7.
I spanked my eldest child on his diaper as a toddler for dangerous misdeeds, and he quickly learned right from wrong, and what could hurt him, and what he needed to come get mommy and daddy to help him with, or ask first. He is now an honest, capable, and intelligent young man who is very independent, but respects authority and knows when to ask for permission, and knows when to ask for help.
Well, with my baby girl, I am going to use "The Naughty Bean Bag" chair in the fun room as the punishment spot for misdeeds. So, if baby touches the stove, she won't get a swat, she will get ice cream and a trip to the naughty bean bag chair. No more raising my voice to get her attention. Now, I will just hug her after she attempts to touch the neighbor's sheep fence, and tell her how brave she is.
