Generally speaking, the answer to that question is no. It's rare to find someone who's a true hermaphrodite (meaning they have both a penis and a vagina), but I'm afraid we have seen enough of them to know they are always sterile.

The only way you could impregnate yourself is if you had two fully functional reproductive systems... which means you'd have to have fully functional set of male reproductive organs-- i.e. a scrotum and testicles producing sperm, a prostate producing seminal fluid, etc. You'd also have to have a completely functional set of female reproductive organs (ovaries, a uterus, a functional vagina, a cervix, etc).

The problem you'd run into once you had every bit of both reproductive systems is that the hormones required to make one function would shut down the function of the other... so the testosterone necessary for spermatogenesis would keep you from being able to ovulate, and the estrogen and progesterone necessary to produce a mature ovum would cause you not to produce sperm.

And, more unfortunately, both organs require long term doses of the hormones, which have the very unhappy effect of causing their opposite analog to atrophy into permanent uselessness.

So, either way you cut it, I'm afraid you're going to end up losing one of the parts necessary to produce what you need to create your own offspring. Either your eggs will come at the expense of sperm, or your sperm will come at the expense of your eggs.

If, somehow, you were able to fully develop both reproductive systems, and keep them functional at the same time, then theoretically speaking... yes, it would be possible for you to impregnate yourself.

As I noted, though, since the two systems work directly against one another, you probably couldn't do it. Plus, I'm taking a guess if you are a true hermaphrodite you are missing a couple of requisite parts, since true hermaphrodites generally have a penis, no real scrotum, and a vulva located directly behind it.

So, I'm afraid the odds on that one are that you're quite as sterile as every other hermaphrodite out there. If you were looking forward to being a parent, I'm sorry... perhaps you should talk to your physician about whether or not you might be capable of working toward mothering a child.

If that's not viable, then consider adoption. There are thousands of bright and beautiful children out there who need a loving home anyway.

In any case, good luck with it.

That's really amazing that you have both male and female reproductive organs. I didn't think that was possible but I guess ANYTHING is possible. Good luck.

I have no idea. Ive always wondered that myself.

Maybe try asking in the medical section if you dont get any good answers here, and also try asking your doctor for sure. Or a reproductive specialist.

Probably not, but even if you can, you shouldn't. The DNA of the sperm and the egg will be far too similar. You know how everyone says brothers and sisters shouldn't have children together? It's the same thing, except a brother or sister would only share 50% of your DNA.

I suppose it depends on how complete each set of organs is. Usually there's some compromise and one set or the other is not actually fully developed. If you're past puberty and you have regular periods AND can ejaculate semen, then I suppose it's possible.

No, it's not possible. Well, I'm pretty sure its not possible in humans. Since worms are hermaphrodites and we studied them last year in science, we learned they could not reproduce with themselves alone.

Intersex humans cannot impregnate themselves.

Generally, hermaphodites are sterile, so I would say that it's not possible.
