This is a western, monotheistic trait that doesn't really come up in eastern relgions. Granted, buddhism promises hell for the wrong life and hinduism has something simular, but either way, is fear used too much to convert people?

I mean come on! I come on here every day to answer questions about whatever and at least once a day I will see the inevitable "why do athiests" question. Not only do they attack athiests about how we are, but they usually type a short story with some history lesson about how they were messed up by one.

This is one athiest who is tired of it, and I know the responses will be from both sides and frankly cant wait to hear why im a jerk about this question.

Its your perogative to believe in God, but who are you to tell me and my family that my lack of faith is wrong, and try to prove it with some event from the past?

Your silly beliefs are not my problem, and I will not stand to be attacked on an internet blog anymore.

my friend is getting married and her parents asked her to wait a year (just had a baby with the father) but since she wants to get married ASAP her parents arent paying for anything. my best friends mom runs a catering business and offered to help out the bride so she wont have to shell out tons of her own money for everything (giving her a 50% off discount which is beyond reasonable) and the bride stated last nite (wedding is in october) that she isnt going to tip the dj, the caterer (aka our friends mom) or anyone else who is involved because she wants to "keep things in budget"..that is SO tacky and rude in my opinion. she said she doesnt HAVE to tip anyone. my friend is upset because her mom is going out of her way and doing the bride a favor and she wants to tell her mom whats going on but her mom will cancel if she feels she is being taken advantage of (which she is!!) what do we do? should we try to change bridezillas mind or keep our mouths shut and let her look rude?

The little boy I babysit is nonverbal - and he tries to use sign language with me but I'm not very good at it - it's only occasional, but I'm pretty sure I'll need it at some point. I learned from his mother that he has been asking me to drive him to the store, too bad I can't drive! He signed to me on Monday something that looked like he was making two fists and hitting them together, the thumbs facing together... if that makes sense. He was having a breakdown at the time... yeah. I need help with this one!

Many of the books (i.e. John, Mathew etc) were written after their death from their points of view...
Even the religious community seems unable to agree whether they are just ficticous moral stories or if they are infact true events.
If they are true events why do many people seem to expect the bible to be taken as the proof when it is a book? (i mean no disrespect but the bible IS a book)

How does a woman that was a victim of rape begin to make sense of her existence with Christ in her life?
How is she supposed to live with herself, knowing that if her perpertrator repents for all his horrible crimes, he too can enjoy heaven?
How is she to have any sense of justice and peace, knowing this?

Ok, before I start I want to say that I have worked in a call centre in the past and, most of the staff there were competent! But:

Why do call centres hire so many thick people that obviously are going to be useless at the job? Do they not have aptitude tests? Surely these people could go and work in places where they're not going to mess up parts of peoples lives?

It might be only me but, when I contact someone in a call centre I always assume that things are going to be done incorrectly. Usually i'm right!

Then explain to me why the Gnostic Gospels are not proven the same way?

According to the gospel of Mary Magdalene Jesus spoke of enlightenment.

Wasn't Adam and Eve supposedly punished for enlightenment?

As a thirty-something single I really have to know:
There seems to be this mindset among certain elements in the Christian community (I won't say all) - that a woman's sole purpose in her life (sometimes as soon as she leaves high school) should be to find a husband, get married, and start popping out babies. Not an education, nor a career, but finding a husband. I think that if this is what some women want, that's fine with them, but what is so bad about being single and being happy being single?

In 2 Peter 3:15 Peter says "And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;"
where is he talking about? Where did Paul talk about the longsuffering of the Lord? Could you please give me a reference? Thank you! Much appreciate it!

This is sort of out of the blue but he's definitely made up his mind.

The thing is... he's mentioned seperating when he leaves because he thinks it would be too much of a strain on our relationship to be apart for so long.

We've been together for four years now and I'd like to think our relationship is a solid one, but apparantly he doesn't think as I do.

I'd just like to hear from anyone else that has loved ones in the military. Should we break it off or try to stay together? Also, would trying to stay in touch with me while hiding the fact that he's gay screw up his chances with the whole "don't ask, don't tell" BS?

Like I said, then is all kind of sudden and I'm still a bit dumbfounded by the whole thing.

this is going to be long but for good reason.
--I watched Dr. Samuel Doctorian give his testimony a long time ago on Benny Hinn. He impressed me as a very calm and wise man. Now much of what was revealed to him by angels has been happening. To those who are interested here is some info.

"Message given by Dr. Samuel Doctorian 16th August 1998 on the Isle of Patmos"

"I am the angel of Asia," he said. And in his hand I saw a tremendous trumpet that he is going to blow all over Asia. Whatever the angel said, it's going to happen with the trumpet of the Lord all over Asia. Millions are going to hear the mighty voice of the Lord. Then the angel said, "There shall be disaster, starvation - many will die from hunger. Strong winds will be looked like has never happened before. A great part shall be shaken and destroyed. Earthquakes will take place all over Asia and the sea will cover the earth."

The sea covering the earth is global warming. The ocean levels will rise.
