I know this is not a deep profound spiritual question but I'll ask it anyway. I would really like to know, why do people on this forum give you a star and not answer your question???? It's just a stupid little thing but I see it happen a lot. If you like the question enough to star it, why not answer it?

Southern Baptists are that...because they broke from the Northern Baptists over slavery...they thought slavery to be ordained by God....a stance that they just apologized for in 1995! Southern Baptists are the largest protestant denomination in the country and are quite divisive, intollerant and quite creepy.

In the past years at their convention, they have adopted resolutions to
"evangelize the jews"
"declare homosexuality to be an abomination, in contradiction to God's will"

They were wrong about slavery until 1995...they are wrong about other social issues as well...and will probably take another 100 years before they admit it.

They, however are a force to be recogned with...Richard Land, the former president of the Southern Baptist Convention is an advisor to President Bush...very scary.

Your thoughts?

And the same with the heads of all the other major religions.

Think of all the wars that would not then occur. Not to mention all the time that would no longer be wasted - it would be great for the world economy.

etc. Yet there are so many people are there with meaningless lives like me, alone, no purpose in life, too weak to work, depressed. Why does G-d keep us alive? I'd gladly give up my life for any of those people with families, jobs, ambitions. I waste so many nights with no purpose. I watched my uncle die with so many people mourning him and realized that there won't be anyone that even wants to care for me. I have no family, no friends, and its not for lack of trying. Don't tell me to get up and make something of myself because you have no idea what I've been through and how hard I've tried. I have no energy left anymore. Please no rude comments. I can't take much more.

So Glowing Clouds are coming from Global Warming..another hmmmmmmmm.
The Great Tribulation has arrived
These are the signs pointing out to Jesus's return no matter what Scientists has you believing.
As the sounds are heard, something astounding appears in the sky, perhaps a huge, glowing Cross. The Sign of the Son of Man. Wherever you are, you see it. It is bigger than the earth. It is brighter than the sun. Yet it doesn't hurt your eyes to look at it. In fact, you can't look away from it. Somehow, the whole world sees it at once. Out of the cross, something else appears. At first it looks like a bunch of brightly glowing clouds. But as it gets closer you can see that it is an army of angels, coming down through the sky toward Jerusalem. And at its head, mounted on a white horse; the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! The resurrected and transformed saints take off like eagles, going up to meet Him. The followers of the Beast weep. Thoughts?

This is a serious question so please only serious answers. I am not very religious but I have a friend whose b-friend left her and she is NOT taking it well. She went to some lady who read some tarrot cards for her and cast a spell for her. But now she is upset because its not working fast enough and has started to ask Satan to bring her ex back to her. I don't think she should do that. Bad idea in my opinion. But then it made me think, will he even answer her prayer request? And if he does what happens? I don't want to be around her if it's going to be bad things.

Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have to turn “ ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law--- a man’s enemies will be members of his own household.’
-Mathew 10:34-36

Within Christian theology Jesus is often depicted as a staunch pacifist and I will agree that he was peaceful. Where I am lost is the many places in the Bible where Jesus speaks of using force/violence. The above verse being one many examples. Was Jesus really a pacifist or did he condone the use of force?

These are specific questions about evolution

According to Darwin, the absence of intermediate fossil forms “is the most obvious and gravest objection which can be urged against my theory.”

What intermediate fossil finds, if any have occurred since Darwin wrote these words nearly 150 years ago?

My Answer: There are NONE.

Explain why I am wrong?

Question:
If the absence of intermediate fossil forms holds as much today as it did back then, why should anyone accept evolution?

My Answer: Because you have to believe it by FAITH. There is no evidence for it. It become you religion.

Question:
What haven’t I studied that will show me intermediate fossils? There should be millions of them, yet there is none.

Why is that?

Here's the question. What do you think of the pentacostal movement of being "slain in the spirt"? Is it from God? Is it biblical? I honestly don't know what to think and would love to here from both sides.

I am 21 and this summer I decided to be an Au Pair for a Family that is about 600 miles away from my home. The children are 10 and 7 and the parents are in their early 30's. I have been here for about a month and the children are absolutely horrible. The older child is constantly punching and hitting the younger child to the point where the younger child is crying and wont stop. The older child does not listen and does as he wants. The father is hardly ever home and the mother turns a blind eye to it. When she does finally punish him she takes away him watching wresling but he is aloud to watch it a day later. She feels his bad behavior is from watching wrestling. She says he his normally not like this but I can tell he is always like this. Today he came home at 1 and invited two friends over without asking then precided to get into the pool without asking. While in the pool he was hitting his brother. When his mom got home I told her and she yelled at me and said I act just like him.

Yesterday I saw the interview with a woman who "thanked God for the attack on 9-11" because she is pleased to see "God punish a f a g g o t nation". Today I read the story of an Orthodox Jew arrested in Jerusalem, loaded with explosives attempting to blow up the marchers in a Gay Pride parade. I read questions daily filled with anti gay hate and venom, posted allegedly "in God's name".
So I ask you, who is this God you speak of. It is not the God of Christ, nor the God of the new testament. IT is not the God I was taught to pray to. I continue to hear repeatedly of the "sin of homosexuality", and the "sin of supporting homosexuals". I have encountered physical threats and minor acts of violence for "walking with people that pervert God's nature". Is this the God these people ask me to believe in? Have these very people not perverted the very meaning and spirit of the God in whose name they spew hatred and venom? If you believe in God, are we not all children of that God?

I read in an answer to a question that someone hopes that Jesus has maps so that these poor people living in rain forests will be saved or something to that effect. Are you serious? Do you really believe these people are going to hell? I think it is very arrogant and unkind to think this way. I'm not a Christian and yes I've read the Bible etc. etc. If I were to think in my 'Christian mentality' my answer would still be 'what are you talking about'? Not right thinking.

From a religious/spiritual standpoint, wouldn't your time be better served looking after you and yours?

Who cares if someone is gay?
Or likes to get drunk on the weekends?
Or has unmarried sex?
Or does drugs?
Or reads Harry Potter?

When a person's behavior crosses the line (stealing, murder, drunk driving) then it becomes everyone's business. Until then, why can't we just butt out?

Only a relatively small number of fundamentalists who believe in the literal truth of the Bible reject evolution and the age of the earth. The Catholic, Episcopalian and Lutheran churches all believe in evolution. They look on the Genesis story as a myth or a metaphor with no real basis in reality.

On Yahoo Answers, both "sides" seem to assume that Cristianity and belief in evolution are incompatible.

People tend to lend that they dismiss other religions because the know that theirs is true, but didnt the Greeks believe their mythology, they believed it to be the upmost truth and to be fact. The only reason I see for most people to know these things is that others tell them it is fact. But we all know that you cant believ everthing you hear. So why do people continue to believ undoubtedly that they have the "true" and right religion?
