Our neice married about 6 years ago. I was invited to all her showers which I attended and gave lavish gifts then we gave expensive wedding gifts all from her registries. No thank you notes ever came. Now her mother is giving her a baby shower and I feel like an ATM for gifts. Am I petty to feel less than eager to attend? Should I send a modest gift and let it go? I don't want to send no gift at all as that might cause a problem within the family. I guess i just don't understand not sending any thank you notes whatsoever for multiple shower gifts and then wedding gifts. Advice?

Os iusti meditabitur sapientiam,
Et lingua eius loquetur indicium.

Beatus vir qui suffert tentationem,
Quoniqm cumm probates fuerit accipient coronam vitae.

Kyrie, ignis divine, eleison
O quam sancta, quam serena, quam benigma, quam amoena
O castitatis lilium

The words above are the lyrics of a song entitled "Lilium". It is a very beautiful and meaningful song. The composition is great and the singing is phenomenal. If you can also provide an accurate translation into English I will reward you best answer.

This happens in a recent question that I answered . They said the Bible is nonsense but that they believe in god . Isn't that sort of like saying they believe in sandwiches but not bread ?

Whether or not you are are actually affiliated with a church or practicing in that sense - how many persons who accept the divinity of Christ but reject the Old Testament? I'm asking for any; I don't need people telling me "then they wouldn't be a Christian". I already know that's the doctrine. i just want to know if anyone on r&s accepts the NT but not the OT.

New verson:-"why do you need so many god and goddess.? i can not under stand hinduism."

Yes -you have agreed you can not Hinduism--it is a"Mis-information" that Hinduism has so many Gods and godesses, which is deliberatelybeing spresd.Hinduism says there is ONE and Only God and there is no second one."Ekaiva Brahmam Satyam-Param Naasthi" depending on what kind of benevolence He gives, they call Him by different names---creator=Brahma---savior=Vishnu---benevolent=Siva---Different attributes are not different Gods

God made Adam in his image but God is a spirit nether man nor woman. Maybe we have it all wrong and God created Eve first in her image. And maybe he did not send down his son but sent down her daughter. But that would imply that Jesus did not exist. Christianity is so confusing maybe I'll join the other side.

When Charles Darwin advanced his theory, which was to be named "The Theory of Evolution" later on, disciplines like genetics and microbiology did not yet exist. Darwin was unaware of the structure of the DNA, proteins, and the cell. The scientists of the time were putting forward ridiculous theses about living things due to the insufficient level of science. For example, they supposed that worms appearing on meat were showing up all of a sudden without any origin. It was to be later discovered that these worms came out of the eggs laid by flies. Life was not so simple as to come about all of a sudden.

"This was the prevailing understanding of science at the time Darwin wrote his book The Origin of Species. The primitive theories of Lamarck were still welcomed: it was believed that acquired traits could be transferred to
later generations. Lamarck used this theory also to explain the long necks of giraffes: However, Mendel’s studies made it clear that acquired traits cannot be transferred to next generations.

Living things could transfer only their genes, not their elongated necks to subsequent generations… Thus both Lamarck's and Darwin's basic assertions were demolished by the end of the 19th century.

According to Lamarck, giraffes were once antelope-like animals and their necks were extended over time as a result of their attempt to reach higher tree branches

I'd like feedback on this.

We have two groups of lines -- long and short with no intermediary lines. There is "variation" inside of a group, but a short line does not become a long line:

Short:
_
___
__
_____
____

Long:
_______
_________
______
________

But, if I take the above lines and sort them by length, here's what I get:

_
__
___
____
_____
______
_______
________
_________

A cockatoo is intermediate between a larger parrot and a smaller parrot -- as such, a fossilized cockatoo would be an intermediary fossil.

That said, about 99% of species we've found fossils for are no longer living -- including, for example, Neanderthal fossils. So all fossils are intermediary fossils, including our own.

Why are church people so rude when at restaurants?
I grew up going to a particular church. When I was older, I waited tables at a restaurant where all these church members came on sunday. Nobody recognized me, but I knew who they were. I don't understand it, but they were the rudest, nastiest, lowest tippers that came it. They treated me like dirt - one guy actually had the nerve to tell me god doesn't want me to work on sunday! And he was my old sunday school teacher. I WAS SHOCKED! My career in retaurants have proven that this was not an isolated case. Why are church people like this?!?
