Most religions have these weird descriptions.

If God is the only One who knows the future, why do we have so many reports of what the end will be like?

Because God wants to warn us. If you told your kids that if they did something bad they would be punished with a timeout, would you be predicting the future? No you're just telling them that they will be punished.

Same way, in the book of Revelation(I'm only picking this one cuz it's the most descriptive Isiah and other books talk about end times too.) It says what happeneds if you choose not to believe in Christ.

Looking at it from another point of view:
Only God know's the whole future. God does reveal things to his people.

The Truth is the Truth and what you say can't change it.Jesus is the Truth. When you mess with the Truth, just know that you're messing with the Creator.

People want to belong to an important time, so they will see signs when and where they live, especially if it is a 'trying time' emotionally or financially. End-time beliefs thrive in stressful times; new religious movements are often formed then, as well. It's a way of trying to make sense of things that are perceived as unjust. During the 'end times' people can ignore their current crappy situation and hope for a better, and soon-coming, afterlife, in which they are right and the other people are wrong. Theologically, it's a sin of pride, to think you know when the end times are. Practically, this is not the first time someone's said the sky is falling, and it hasn't, not on a large scale.

One historical example is the 'Ghost Dance' of many Native American groups during the 19th century. This religious revival began during periods of lifestyle change and military pressure and war against them.

We are told to be ready. A warning something is going to happen soon is preferred over SURPRISE!!!

God's followers have a job to do from Jesus to preach the good news of the kingdom to all the earth, and step on it because the earth can not take much more.

The Bible plainly states them and we know that these would be on a scale far beyond what has gone before.

I think because 'People' in general might be scared - as to what all is happening - especially with Israel in the 'Picture'.

Jesus Himself said: "Watch therefore, for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come." Matthew 24: 42.

Actually if you all read Matthew 24 - the Chapter - it might answer a LOT of questions you might be asking. As the result - you might ALL see yourselves that we do NOT have a LOT of time!

Please be at Peace - Accept the Grace of God!

Take Care and God Bless!

well God has put a lot of warnings in the Bible and he wants us to know when it is close, but he will not tell us the exact date..
Here is a good example, and you should read the rest and also Matthew chapter 24..

Zec 14:1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
Zec 14:2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
Zec 14:3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

There have been horrific disasters and countless billions of people dieing horribly since the dawn of recorded history, and probably before. It is unique to religions that they all see the times they are living in as the "end times".
I believe it is an attempt to relieve themselves of the responsibility that every man woman and child bears for what happens as a result of mankind being on this planet.

We have a certain amount of common sense and can pretty well tell in general way what probably will happen. The bible doesn't say we don't know the future, just that we don't know when He will return. We also have the bible which tells us a lot about the future.

They are all just speculations. There are no hard and fast "signs" of the judgment day, other than generalized "there will be wars and rumors of wars" lingo (when have their not been wars and rumors of wars in all of human history). Other lingo like "there will be earthquakes and famines".... well -- there is no evidence that we are in a period of increasing frequency of these kinds of disasters... it's been about 30 years or so since Bangladesh lost like a 1,000,000 people to a tidal wave.... when are the end times again?

According to the Bible, there are certain things that will happen before the Apacolypse. Those things are supposedly lining into place... but only "God" is supposed to know when the world will actually end.

I'm not a christian, but I actually find it quite interesting. Supposedly after all the christians get taken to heaven there will be a 7 year period where everyone else gets a "second chance" to become christian, before the world actually ends.

No one but God knows the time when Christ will come again, not even Christ knows.

The signs that are described are for us to know that the time is coming, but not when. It's a hint for us humans that things are moving along, and that the time is coming so we can prepare.
