I believe we have control of our destiny on earth...I think fate makes it harder for some to control their destiny...and have to work longer and harder than others to accomplish the same goals...but, I believe all is possible....by fate, I mean..fate of being born into a poor family, or a minority who may be discriminated against...fate being those things that have happened to us, that we cannot change...

Our eternal fate is up to us...whether we believe in Christ...However, fundies want to make that much harder than it is...you do not have to believe the way they do...it is really quite simple...believe in God, confess your sins and try to live a Godly life...

As a believer in reincarnation, I believe that we make our plan before we come here. We choose what we decide to learn about. We choose our parents and many of the circumstances of our life.

So while some events are destiny or fate, we are subject to our own free will as well as the free will of others.

To me, destiny and fate are practically the same thing.

I am a determinist. I believe nothing happens by accident, because the universe is a closed system. there is no randomness, therefore everything is predetermined. If the big bang happened again we would all turn out exactly the same.

I believe free will is an illusion, but it is nice to feel you have control over your destiny. The illusion is vital to the continuation of the human species if we didn't have it there would be complete apathy

I don't see any reason to think I'm not making my own choices. If I'm not making my own choices, it doesn't matter because everything I'm thinking and doing is predetermined. Meaningless.

Fate and destiny are illusions. They incorporate meaning into everything that happens despite the lack of proof that everything has meaning.

Even if you "let yourself go," you are making a decision and responding to the environment... or the environment consumes you. In neither case is fate applicable.
