My wife is not the same person I married. We use to go out dancing, partys, lots of fun, very out going. She met some religious people at work and she has turned into a total fanatic. Eats, sleeps, drinks Jesus 24 -7. I'm sick of it. By the way, Jesus must be against sex because that ended we he showed up. What to do now. Don't say if you can't beat em, join em.

I have a report to do in religion about the 6 things the lord hates.
I don't understand them all, I'm not religious at all.
You can find them in Proverbs 6:16-19

Do you mind explaining them all to me?
I need to do a paragraph on each of them, but first of all, I need to understand it.

I'd say that there is such a thing. But do you understand that this has nothing to do with less religion?

It all started in World War II, the labor shortage led to a loosening of restrictions on child labor. Many families couldn't survive on the low pay that soldiers received, encouraged them to get jobs, and this encouraged teenagers to get jobs early, causing changes in teenagers behaviors: Use of "adult" language, sexual acivity, etc.

Therefore, what is seen as a decline in morality is really just teenagers' greater independence.

It is well established and understood by Christians that your Earthly marriage will not continue in Heaven. You won't have a marital partner as you may have had on Earth. This teaching gives us some idea of what the nature of one's existence might be like in Heaven.

But don't Mormons believe that marriage can continue in Heaven? I think they teach something about having marriages 'sealed' or something.

I would be curious to know more about this. What exactly is the teaching? And how is it supported by scriptural references?

Thanks.

For example. My foundation is the black church and dedicated wonderful parents. The knowledge and worship of God and the molding of my parents made me who I am. What or who fashioned you into the person you are today?

Karma is just a fancy word for 'conditioning'. For example, If I beat/abuse my kids, this conditioning/karma will negatively affect them. If they don't get help, it continues to shape their lives (and they affect their kids and others -- 'karma lasts lifetimes'); if they get help, this counters it. And all of our conditioning is this way - until we see what it is (with deep enlightenment resolving it because the psychological self - the thing that's conditioned - is seen as illusory).

You know how it goes once you tell a religious fanatic that you're an atheist. Ever said anything really clever that left them stumped or speechless? Ever wanted to?

And that this was the ORIGINAL intent of the description? Do the SIMPLE research - it's a COMMONLY used religious metaphor used to describe the enlightenment experience (e.g. it was used to describe Jesus' and Buddha's enlightenment). The metaphor of birth is used b/c it's an awakening of realization of one's true nature. 'Virgin' is added because the realization is that one is not of the body. Simple stuff and NOTHING to do with mary, birth, mothers, etc.

How does the thought process go? If a person is a true atheist as a result of research and a logical mind, how can he turn to religion and feel okay about it? Is that even possible? Honestly?

There have been individuals who have offered their sympathy and support, but who have prevented others from sending them mail.

I am not judging the wisdom of such decisions. But I cannot even send them a "thank you", let alone address any of the concerns they express in an answer as the Question format forbids this (and Y!A is pretty sticky about censoring such questions).

There are a few I'd have written if not for this difficulty.

What advice can you offer?

Given that he's supposed to be omnipotent, do you think he would have known ahead of time that Adam and Eve (A&E) would eventually sin? What's the point of free will if everything that will happen, has already happened in the eyes of God?

Is that after reading several verses it seems as if women are expected to stay at home and not work, I am entirely against that, I want to be a christian, but not if it entitles never having a career of my own, I'm only 16, but this is ridiculous.

And you must submit to your husband? What is that supposed to mean? If I get married I will never submit to my husband like some sort of slave.

Sorry, I just really don't get this, it sounds like a horribly boring life, one that I would never be able to take part in.

Why not question your religion? How do you even know if it's true or not without questioning? You have a brain in your head, don't you think that if God exists, he/she would want you to use it instead of a book 2,000 years old? Please, no angry answers, I'm dead serious? Why do Christians shelf common sense when it comes to introspective questions about God & the bible?
