It would take an act of God. An event that makes me feel the touch of God. Something to justify the way preachers and televangelists feel when they project their belief with such enthusiasm.

*** How can one turn from atheist to theist? ***
Yes, one can turn from atheism to be a theist. We are all born atheist and are turned into theist by others, and to this there is no valid denial possible. The thought process is to suspend all reason and rely only on faith. Logic in and of itself must also be abandoned as well.
It is possible, although not many have taken that route without being compelled, sometimes falsely to do so. The chasm between prove Gods exist and no evidence is necessary to prove that Gods exist is wide. Honestly there are but few that can make that leap using only faith, logic forbids that.
Have a pleasant day.

With knowledge of the truth. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:32) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6) This is no logic in not believing in God! The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” (Psalm 53:1) He is a fool because no one has knowledge of everything. So it is possible there is a God and you guessed wrong. If there is a possibility for a real God, then atheist are putting faith in there belief that it is right. There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. (Proverbs 14:12) Kirk Cameron is a example of a atheist gone Christian. If you have any questions or what to tell me where I am wrong email me at my site in the profile.

The next step is to recognize that there is truly some mystery in the world that science and logic just can't quite square up. At that point you begin to cross into agnostic (gnostic). I believe most people are agnostic but go through the motions of organized religion or devout disbelief in the idea of "God" for various reasons.

I believe it is most likely to be a brush with death, an illness where they have nothing else to rely on except reaching out, or a true 'miracle' type escape from the jaws of death. A jolt like that when they have given up all hope but suddenly they are okay can be attributable to God by many people.

Really this would be a miracle.
With sudden humility, an atheist or agnostic comes to realization that this world has nothing more to offer than temporal happiness, wealth, fame, and that Christ offers the everlasting life He promised to us after death, in His Gospel (John 3:18-21 KJV). With understanding that we are all guilty of sin by default, they finally see that they need to repent to Christ to acquit them of the sins that they are carrying (pride prevented them from seeing that they are indeed carrying sin in the first place). Atheists or agnostics suddenly realize that they are trangressing God's Law and have sinned, and now are convicted to repentence to absolve their sins through the Grace of Christ. Repentance must be the motive to turn away from their pride and ignorance as an atheist or agnostic, and to turn to God for salvation.

Yes, it is possible. People undergo many stages throughout their lives and a certain event or circumstances may have caused that person to question their beliefs about certain aspects.
This is equally true for a theist to reject their faith and become atheist

If a rational person becomes frightened enough by things they cannot control, they can have a tendency to suddenly turn to God. It is a natural reaction in response to the unknown and fear. It takes a lot of effort to remain rational. It is easier to give up and believe.

Research and a logical mind will lead you to the conclusion that their had to be a creator. Life experience will lead you to the inevitable conclusion that there is a power greater than our own.

It is possible to turn from atheism to belief in God. As always though, I caution you about taking the attitude that only atheism is logical and intelligent. The God who created the universe also gave you the free will to choose to trust him or reject him...so I believe that He feels he's capable of standing up to your scrutiny. God gave you you're mind, and wants you to use it. Just beware of the posters in here who put forth the attitude that belief in God equals ignorance.
