I believe that it's very possible. But what's required is at least two very mature people. All the name calling and insults come from immature people either with no tolerance or no understanding. I've been able to discuss religion and spirituality dozens of times. It just takes maturity, understanding, and tolerance.

Yes, it is possible to have an intelligent adult conversation about religion and spirituality, without name calling and insults.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but some seem to think their opinion is set in stone and that can cause dissension in the conversation.

It is possible, but not likely. Most people are too emotional about their personal belief and too gun happy to prove you wrong. It would nice to engage in a intellectually stimiulating conversation to understand various points that you may not have thought about concerning our beginning, our purpose on earth and our future. But instead most christians behave like barbarians by the end the dialog if a conversion isn't made.

I think mature, open minded individuals can discuss religion and spirituality without a problem. The problem is finding mature, open minded individuals.

But of course... many in here already do discuss w/o name-calling and insults. Never saw ProudMuslimah, Pangel, and many others insult a soul from their own end.

I hope we all can do that. I'm an evangelical Christian...a "fundamentalist" to many in here, which as far as I can tell means I'm ignorant and unthinking to many of the people who post in here. I'm not threatened by anyone's doubt in the existence of God. I wish that many of the folks in here were not threatened by my Christianity. I truly love the discussions we have in here, but I agree with the questioner...enough with the name calling!!

I suppose anything is possible, but not everything is likely. Polite religious discussion is of the latter category.
