Not all athiests are the same. Don't lump all of us together. I am an athiest, but I don't care what other people believe as long as they get some peace from it and no one gets hurt. I respect all religion and the people of those religions, I just don't share the same views.
Here's a better question - Why can't some religious people accept the fact that not everyone has the same beliefs they do?

Will Christians ever be able to accept that Atheists do not have any reason to believe in their ridiculous faith?
CHRISTIANS ARE ALSO ATHEISTS. Richard Dawkins made this point really well- Christians are Atheists towards other gods such as gods from older civilisations. If you ask a Christian if they believe in , for example, Zeus they are likely to treat the question with as much scepticism as it deserves.

'its a human trait'... the more i think about this question the more utterly stupid it becomes!!! There are many human traits that are undesireable.

Religion narrows the mind.

There are some very difficult questions in life- face them, don't bury your head in the sand. And if you can't do that, at least have the decency to recognise how absurd your beliefs are and do not try to impose them on others, especially children or the vunerable.

Only because humans are weak and will suspend disbelief (have faith) in order that they might feel a little less alone/useless in the world.

I accept people DO have faith in different things, and if they admit that their faith is due to their humanity, not because their suspenion of disbelief is true, then I dont have a problem!

Religion/faith is a nice cuddle blanket as long as it doesnt impact on peoples decision making, or on other people.

Its nice that religious people can find room in their lives to have faith in things, and will knowly suspend belief in fact in the hope that there might be something out there, but its not for me, as I prefer plain old truth and science, and dont find it depressing that theres no meaning to existance and no-one watching over us.

Blind religious faith is the only one we are concerned with if you are directing this question at atheists.
Blind religious faith is different to other types of faith people may have based on evidence or based upon what has proven to be true time and again in ones life, we have faith that day will follow night,we have observed and experienced that this is so, we have faith that if we turn on a tap water will usually flow, if it doesn't we call in the plumber and get the water flowing again.

Faith isnt a trait.
And we do accept that people have faith in different things. We dont go around saying "There are no Christians because people cant have faith in different things".

I'm atheist and I accept that people have faith in different things. I just don't like the fact that a lot of you believers feel the need to push your faith on people who don't want it. if you believers would accept the fact that people have faith in different things, then that would be great.

stop trying to force feed those of us who aren't hungry.

If faith were a human trait, there would be no atheists. It is people of faith who tend to have a problem with people having faith in different things.

Most atheists do, and keep quiet about faith (or lack of) in general.

Unfortunately, it is actually the other way round.

Religion has tried to impose their own religious values and morals on other people and even on society in general.

For example banning harry potter - silly example I know, but if people accepted other people have different faiths, why try to ban a book which offends only one section of society.

i used to be Buddhist... properly... i assume i nevertheless am. To me, Buddhism isn't a faith... it incredibly is in common terms a thought. i do no longer worship a God or pass to temple, yet i've got faith that one and all human beings could stay (or attempt too; i harm regulations too :P) what they suspect are ethical lives, so as that while they die they are able to truly have faith that they did what they concept replaced into ultimate and die in peace. i do no longer in common terms like the seen being conflicted by utilising what God thinks is proper and what i think of is proper. And lol. when I found out Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny (i replaced into 6) have been pretend, i questions loads of stuff and lost faith in a great form of stuff. Then i grew to grow to be atheist. My mom and father do no longer care what i'm. i'm meant to maintain on with my heart and shop on with what i think of is proper. =D

Well, it's pretty obvious, and no one is denying it. But I don't think it's necessarily a human trait to believe in something without getting any proof. I think it's more a question of brainwashing people early enough.
