Make sure it doesn't fit into the catagory based on:

They say dumb things

They have made foolish mistakes

They did something you disagree with

I'm talking about stupid as in, incapable of being smart, not in a situation - but everyday and every second of that day. And not mentaly retarded/damaged people either.

All people are many things. I am a daughter, wife and mother. I am a woman, a Democrat, an optician. I am white, I am originally a New Yorker, but now a Montanan. I have Unitarian beliefs, but am not a Christian or a churchgoer. I am a dog person, I am straight.

I know people who primarily identify themselves by sex; I do-my first identity to me is 'woman'. Many women think of themselves as "mother", and I know a few men whose jobs give them their identity. How do you identify yourself? When you think of all of the things you are, what comes to mind first?

My best friend and I have been BEST friends for 13 years (we were 9, we're 22 now.) I was close to her family and she was close to mine. When she graduated from college, she moved back home (that's how dependant and how much of a daddy's girl she was) and when her dad went to the hospital several times for weeks at the time, I would stay with her and try to keep her company and keep her occupied. We found out her dad had cancer about 7 months ago. We all knew it was coming, but he died on Tuesday (two days ago).
The funeral is Friday. I've never been to a funeral, only to a wake. I need to know what to say, what to wear, and what to expect. I need to know funeral etiquette. I need to know for her.
My friend is a teacher and very poised. I know she's probably going to be cryng her eyes out and it's going to be very dramatic to see her like that because she's normally so strong. Her Fiance' will be there, but I'm the best friend and I need to know what to do.
Thanks,
C.

Any sociologists want to tell me what the increase in mass shootings is a symptom of?

I am a girl with a peaceful and patient heart, who could delve into one task and seek the final success by trying and working constantly. This characteristic was formed through my experience of learning painting since six years old, because when accomplish a sketch, I need to observe, compare and modify it repeatedly. I also formed a habit of observing things and people around me and thinking about the affairs and people I encountered. When I dig deeper, I often obsessed by some profound problems, such as what is the meaning of life since everyone will die and why society exists. At the time I encountered sociology, I perceived that those problems are exactly the topics of this discipline. It analysis and explanations of the problems that I was long obsessed with attracted me to delve into this field.

The More you know about people, how people are and what not. I mean really seeing and hearing people! The more cynical you become or the more compassionate you become about people? I gotta say I become more cynical. I know not everyone is "crappy" and I don't hate anyone! But I do tend to lean more towards the cynical side. Just wanna be left alone kind of thing.

I don't what it is, just what I do. . . Maybe I try and fix that. . .

But what about you? The more compassionate or the more cynical?

Do you shave your chest and if so why? Do you shave your arms or any other parts like your arms,etc..(without having to get too personal)? Do you think women enjoy a shaved chest or hairy? What have been your experiences? Do you consider a shaved chest "metro" or part of the modern day man?

Please include your ages or an age range if you could because I'm trying to gather feedback on how different generations may view this.

This all stemmed from my little brother who shaves his chest. My mom thinks it is unmanly and dumb but I tried to reason with her that this is just something guys generally our age do and that many girls like it of our generation. (Teens & 20 somethings) But truth is I don't know that for a fact so I was hoping to get a diverse opinion and also to see if it is generally true that it may just be a social/regional/generational thing.

We are to discuss the history of abortions. I didn't know this but women were having abortions long before it was legalized. Aside from clothes hangers do you know some of the ways women would abort their fetuses? Is it true that they used ginger?

I think the high divorce rate is primarily contributed to immature behaviors and attitudes of many Americans. Since the military develops self-discipline and respect, which are two qualities that are seriously deficient in America, I think the divorce rate will go much lower because many more Americans will respect and love their significant other much more and will develop more self-discipline, which would help prevent them from cheating or doing anything else stupid.

Also, after being in boot camp for a long time and being deprived of female companions, I developed a more heartful respectful for women. I don't know why, I guess when as a guy you go through such a painful experience for so long without women it makes you appreciate them more. Kind of like how you appreciate food more after you go on a hunger strike.

I could be very wrong, and most people (including me) would think that this is a crazy idea. But I'm just curious to know what you guys would think about this
