It seems that the same type of crimes would land a man on death row dont seem to land a woman on death row such as killing a child, killing a police office, murder for hire, participating in a murder that involves a robbery and/or kidnapping.

...and how well off are they in Western society?
I mean, being a "soft-hearted" person (man, especially), is definitely going to hinder performance in career and possibly even social relationships?

I wonder sometimes when I see homeless people if they just want to live that way or are too ignorant to find a better solution to their problem.

"As a physician, I have been trained to think of problems in terms of diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. My diagnosis of the plight of Blacks in American medicine is that today's medical system consists of 20th century technology shackled with a 19th century sociology." Dr. Max Seham 1971

Affirmative action allows woman to have an advantage over men in many areas. One issue is that a woman dont have to lift the same weight as a man to join the police force or join the military. Also some engineering jobs give woman a better chance than men. But how about issues like child custody in which judges and lawyers admit that there is a bias against male parents in child custody. Also why isnt it applied in the criminal justice system in cases where men are oversentenced. Such as the death penalty or receiving a prison term for statutory rape whereas women who do the same like debra lafave dont get jail time.

It seems that in modern day society it is all-too-obvious that bisexuality is rampant among women and even lesbianism. And society dictates that homosexuality is much more acceptable among women since they are 'hotter' and loathed when among men. So it seems that women aren't really attracted to men and have little reason to date men. So my question is, how can men feel good about themselves when society shows that men are basically ugly and unwanted unless for financial purposes or protection or something?

I can't think of a virtue that sums up "having good relationships" or "being good at social interaction."

I'm a 24 year old male and I still live at home with my rents. I have my associate of arts degree but I am currently not enrolled in school. I'm actually working full time at a dog kennel (been there for 5 years). I really dont know what to do in life right now other than work and do my music (I have a band). I would really like to get a good job though but I don't have a specific degree right now.

Anyway, I've been with the same girl for 2 years and I'm paranoid that she thinks I have no goals or something. Ladies, is a 24 year old guy who lives at home and works at a dog kennel not attractive or wo uld you not wanna be with him? I want to show her that I can change but right nw I don't know where to go for work and I can't pay for school right now either. I told her this a few months ago and she just said, "You keep saying that." Then we broke up, but now we are back together..I really want to change though. Any advice??

By that I mean, that many don't get a real good image of what we are like as people, versus what is portrayed by the media. Opinions?

This is a warning to those majoring in sociology. There are certain college majors that will not do anything in terms of employment after graduation unless the students goes beyond the Bachelor's Degree level. Sociology is one of them.

I graduated with a sociology degree from Lehman College with a 3.25 GPA in 1994. For the last 13 years, I have been working in odd, per diem jobs like security guard and also as a sub teacher (the worst job in the school system).

I am not knocking down sociology. I am sure that sociology is a great route into a good job AFTER the B.A. level. I majored in sociology because it was (not sure if it is today) a 30-credit major and a quick ticket out of college. My true love is math but at age 42, I feel too old to consider majoring in math.

Sociology students, you have been warned! Select sociology if you wish but please remember that the value of a sociology degree to an employer is beyond the B.A. level. Your Reply?

Like those people who don't know how a stop sign intersection works. The first person to pull up has the right of way, when in doubt yield to the person to your right, not "wow it feels like time to go I think I'll accelerate".
Oh, and by the way, it's NOT "ok" to not know where New Zealand and Afghanistan are on a globe, an idiot moron fool could tell you that. Some people need to be put into meat grinders to feed dogs more useful than themselves.

Ok, I am all for free expression, but I don't want to hear about how cruel I am or how people's rights matter. Be reminded of Mark Twain's quote, "Of all the creatures that were made, man is the most detestable. Of the entire brood he is the only one--the solitary one--that possesses malice. That is the basest of all instincts, passions, vices--the most hateful. He is the only creature that has pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. Also--in all the list he is the only creature that has a nasty mind." and tell me he isn't right. Don't get me wrong, I like certain people, just not our species in general. In the end, we are all animals so my questions is this...

If people can take an animal that has been aggressive towards humans and shoot it without further incident, why can't we do that to people? You don't see anybody shooting the animal because it harmed something other than a human. If an animal attacked someone I was close to or even myself, I wouldn't want it put down.
