Society as usual softpeddles anything to do with morals or ethics. Being gay may have a genetic factor but so does alot of inherited conditions. But like many conditions being gay is down to a choice.

my skating pal told me that she landed her double toe and her axel on dry land (i can't land them yet). she gets lots of additional help apart from lessons, such as a coach who helps her with her stretches and moves (for which i have no time, nor money). she keeps telling me how amazing it is for her to be able to do what she does, since she started skating later than i did. i can do some things better than her, such as centering spins, but it’s not good enough for me. there's nothing i love more than skating, and i put everything into it. but apart from skating i have to stay in school, and my good marks bring me some extra money, which help pay for my lessons. it just seems unfair that she gets everything and i'm stuck. it will be really hard for me to skate with her when we resume lessons (we had to take a break). i just want to be the best at what i love the most. and plus, i got a new haircut, and it’s awful. i feel really horrible about myself. any advice?

I was thinking as I was driving into work today that everything does happen for the better.

I was upset with my brother that he did not call me while my parents were overseas for 12 days. I am glad though because every time we talk, he tells me that I am bipolar which I am not.

I was thinking that I did not get a permanent job that I applied for. It was for the better because I probably would not have been happy there anyway. The company was too small and had no defined processes and procedures. I work in Accounting.

I don't know about my daughter having to see my husband and I get divorced. I guess she has become stronger and can handle herself in any situtation. She is not overprotected and lazy like my co-worker's daughter who is 12 years old and still needs someone to feed, bathe and sleep next to her at night.

Does anyone feel this in their life?

does it just depend which side you're on... or whether you want it to happen?

I have met a few people in my life that are prejudice of their own kind. Some are whites that can't stand to be around other whites. In Minnesota there was a Native American kid that joined a Neo-Nazi group before shooting his fellow Native American students. The cases I've seen before came from caring families and were well treated by them. When I've asked this before, I was called a Nazi. Truely, not having any race related prejudice personally, I am having an even harder time understanding this. I also want to use it as a component to the bad guy in a book I'm writing.

I'm just curious, if they do not get visual input if their visual cortex is less developed than someone who gets direct visual input?

I'm wondering because we process a lot of information all at once through our vision, and I would guess that imagined visuals are less taxing to it. So blind people having only imagined visuals should have a less taxed visual cortex, so it wouldn't need to be overly developed. Is this right or wrong?

Do they end up compensating by having even better imagined visuals because their visual cortex still functions at full capacity no matter what?

By imagined visuals I mean visualizations using the mind.

Thanks so much in advance.

You have given up so much of your own time and so much effort into trying to help other people, yet all you get is critisism and abuse? Even when you've been totally open minded.

Should I carry on helping and ignore the things being said? Or just forget helping them and move on?

I wish more money was provided for research on the topic of stuttering. I have tried Speech Easy and about five years of therapy but I just continue to stutter, and I had faith in the Speech Easy also.

I'm wondering whether or not people are clustered within groups of healthy or unhealthy people by either familial relation which may influence choices in friends who are also either healthy or unhealthy - or is society a mix randomly. It seems to me that everyone in my family has some sort of mental health issue or alcoholic/dependent features. I wonder if the choices I've made in my life are a reflection of my role models as I've realized I often place myself around unhealthy people. Not only do I see this in my family, but extended family and their friends and network etc. Or maybe this unhealthy behavior is peppered throughout society without a pattern. I'm wondering...any thoughts?

Hi everyone:

I am taking a survey and would like to see what kinds of stereotypes are out there for people found in various professions. Please write for each occupation on the list, what stereotype comes to your mind for the kinds of people who work in that occupation (negative or positive). For instance: Computer programmers - geeks

This is all just for fun! Of course not all members of a group all fit a stereotype, but just write what comes to your mind for each.

1. Accountants
2. Architects
3. Artists
4. Firemen
5. Scientists
6. Doctors
7. Computer Programmers
8. Librarians
9. Graphic Designers
10. Marine Biologists
11. Lawyers
12. Secretaries
13. Teachers

I'm not religious. I'm asking this question for a better general knowledge, not to be critical.

When someone on Y!A asks a question, for example... "I'm feeling really depressed lately" or a question about suicide, they seem to get many answers telling the to turn to God.

I want to understand how someone could possibly think that God could heal their depression?

Sometimes, I prevent people from doing something they wanted to do, unknowingly, like sleeping for example. Well, whenever I keep them from “sleeping” again unknowingly and I find out, I instantly push the person away. Then, I keep the person from doing a favor for me. Finally, it almost seems like I’m “controlling” them to do whatever they wanted to do in the first place. Then, the person gets mad because they think I’m controlling and I only care about myself while I did this with their best interests coming first. That is so confusing………
