When I was about 8-10 yrs my younger brother and i were waiting for the youth club to open when a man asked me if I could help him carry a trunk upstairs. AT the time it never seemed odd to me that a grown man would try to enlist the help of an 8 year old girl, and I was a brownie at the time, so I was eager to help!! lol

Anyway, i began carrying the trunk upstairs and after each flight the man started to hug me. Then he told my brother to wait downstairs and at this point i began to feel very uncomfortable. Eventually I made some excuse about my dinner getting cold and I fled.

Everytime i think about that incident return to that time, i feel like a scared helpless 8 year old. I have a daughter now and fear for her safety. Notice that the man did not use anything obvious like sweets or toys to lure me, but prayed on my conscience and good nature.

Has everyone had close encounters with dodgy people in their childhood? I hope this question does not offend anyone.

His eight-stage theory is separated by age groups that change according to social standards of the time.

My question is, does his theory also depend on the culture it describes? I can relate to it only because I come from the United States but I wonder how it applies to other cultures so well. How much of it do you think is biologically determined and how much of it is socially influenced?

I know this question doesn't have an exact answer yet but I want to know some of your opinions.

We use a minimum of 4.7% of our brain, and yet,it is amazing what humans have created-and we are a whole different species only because of our mind. The boundaries of countries, the whole society skeleton is built out of ideas, coming from our minds. I want to see what you people think about it-where is the limit of the abilities of the human mind?

I am a Juvenile Probation Officer in a rural community with few resources. I've been reading up on animal assisted therapy programs, and want to implement one in my office. However, I can't find anything that is close to what I'm able to do to base it off of. Any ideas about coming up with a new program would be greatly appreciated. The only programs I know about involve detained youth, and the kids I work with are all in the community still. The goal is to keep them there and prevent them from requiring placement elsewhere. Any ideas will help a ton, thanks in advance! :)

I'm tired of being poor, yes I work. I'm tired of being ugly, can't change that. I'm tired of being fat, tried to lose weight, nothing works. I'm tired of being tired, baby doesn't sleep, ever. I'm tired of no one helping me, yes I've asked. I'm tired of my husband being mean all the time....

I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. Anyone else feel that way?

There is fantasy, there is a teenage world and there is magic. But there is a lot more- the story of courage, the fight against evil, and the life of an almost 17-year-old boy who has been chosen to fight danger. But what grabs millions of readers to pre-book before the release of the last book- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and wake up in the wee hours of the morning to reach the bookstore first? What is it that has made us, the readers, flock in such large numbers, such that JK Rowling became the first author to become a billionaire? Surely, the content is extraordinary?

the same question has been asked on polls and surveys on entertainment and music.

About 2 months ago as a group of friends we all decided that we would go to Amsterdam for a long weekend. Me and two others booked it with the promise from everyone else that they would also book it. They haven't booked it and therefore it is now too expensive to go for them as it is too close to the time of travel. They have now said that they are going to go to Newquay when we are in Amsterdam. I also want to go to Newquay.......... Am I unreasonable for having a go at them because they want to go when we cannot? What is the best course of action?

I’m 32 and have been incredibly insecure about my looks my whole life. I’ve spend tens of thousands of dollars on plastic surgery to completely makeover my body and fix everything I didn’t like. Two years after my last surgery I meet this incredibly good looking and charming man whom I married 18 months later and whom I’ve been married to for 3 years now. I absolutely adore the guy and even though I know he loves me there are times I doubt he’d be with me if it weren’t for my looks. He’s the only person who’s ever made me feel loved, wanted and accepted and when he proposed to me knowing he could have had his pick of beautiful girls I couldn’t believe my luck. I can’t bear the thought of losing him but I think I might now that he wants a baby. I’d love for us to have a baby of our own but the problem is he’d be expecting our baby to be a complete stunner and that’s unlikely given my genes. I’d love my baby no matter what but I doubt he’d feel the same. Do I tell him about my surgeries and risk losing him or become pregnant and hope for the best?

A lot of other people seem to be so bright, but I'm not anything.

I can sing, a little.

I used to be creative, but it's gone now.

What can I do to not feel so hopeless?

I don't want any sympathy, I want real answers.

I have 3 children that are 4 years and younger. I'm a homemaker. I have no friends. I will do chores all day long...however, when I know a relative is coming over I kick into high gear and accomplish a ton of things. My husband sometimes travels overnight or more and I again kick things into high gear so that he comes home to a clean house. Soooo...My question is why can't I do the same on average days? I have less motivation...I just mosey along...doing what has to be done and not much more. Any suggestions as to how to keep up the fast pace as well as why this happens? Hope this made sense! :-)

1. What goods do you think the government would ration?

2. How would you feel about having to do without these items, or at least deal with less of them?

3. What plan would you come up with for your family to make sure you were able to meet the rationing requirements?

she rarely saw her biological father, had a stepather between the ages 6-12, got perfect grades until the fourth grade and and never did "well" in school since then, was severly depressed as a child, has no memory of any kind of abuse, engaged in sexual acts with other children around age 7, mother had a drug addiction when she was 8, she had sex at age 13 got pregnant at 14, lost oldest sister during 7th month of pregnancy, gave the baby up for adoption, became very promiscuous after that, found out she has the same heart disease her sister died from, occasionally experimented with drugs after age 18, seemed attracted to "bad boys", cheated on every boyfriend she ever had, got married and had a baby at age 20 and recently after that she falsely accused her hsband of molesting their daughter (she thought it was true but it wasnt), and has always had problems with anxiety and depression. I understand that she needs help but im trying to understand why she is so self destructive.

In college, I just had the most unusual conversation with a guy I hardly even know. He came up to me and asked if I had a copy of Command & Conquer 3, and I said yes. He asked if I play it online, I said no.

Then he bluntly dropped the bomb: He wanted my game serial number, so he could play online. Apparently, he has an illegal copy of the game, and wants to use my key to stick to it.

As I said, I don't know this guy. I only saw him a couple times in the last two semesters, walking around campus. He asked for my cell phone number so he could call me and take my serial number via phone.

What do you think of this short story, and what should happen next?
