Can you die from stress or depression? Not just the physical effects, but because your mind can't take it anymore and sees no relief in sight?

Pertaining to arranged marriage vs free will marriage (you choose your partner). According to Wikipedia- arranged marriages result in very few divorces, while the divorce rate for most of the U.S is over 50%.. so are your parents really better at picking that you? Have you ever been divorced? If your parents had some imput on your choise of spouse do you think it would have resulted in the way it did? Simply curious here people- I am in no way promoting idea, I just want some ideas about it.. It's odd however that arranged marriages have below 4% divorce rate while free will marriages have over 50%..

Cognitive psychology seems to consider love as not being a primary emotion. Post modern philosophers say good and evil are relative not intrinsic. Humans seem to me to have a "built in" sense of right and wrong and a need for love as evidenced by very young children's recognition of incidents of violence to others or self as being negative. This seems to me to be due to an intrinsic sense or a learned sense of goodness maybe learned from mothers TLC of them. TLC = tender loving care.

I'm at the end of my rope. I need clarity. I'm not rich so I can't run off to a theraputic spa, or camp. I have tried almost everything -meds, therapy, books, the religious approach is NOT for me. I'm in the biggest rut of my life. I'm a smart, creative person and have had great success in my life-my kids are all in mid teens or older. I need to find a purpose. I need to breathe. I need to know what I can do with my life. I just am all out of energy and ideas.

My best friend Kerri's boyfriend says he might notice a pretty girl now and then, but he doesn't 'check them out' (in the sense that he doesn't proceed to look at butt, boobs, etc). According to him, you'll never see him "drooling". At first I told my friend that this has to be complete b.s., but the more I thought about it, the more I believed it might be true. When a man is in love, does he feel a certain sense of being content that causes his eyes and mind to wonder a lot less?

Also, Kerri is beautiful. Maybe this helps?

In an age where you can go to your doctor and get a prescription for "restless leg syndrome" or "chronic fatigue syndrome" or "syndrome syndrome" you would think that the pharmaceutical companies would work to find a drug to give people that have proven hypochondria. Some kind of psychological drug that would supress the part of the brain that causes psychosomatic symptoms.

Just wondering... and, no, this isn't a "joke" question. I have a friend who is a serious hypochondriac and would probably benefit from such a drug.

How would this be prescribed? You would think a doctor would have to "trick" a patient and tell them it's for something else that they've come complaining about.

I had a dream!... it was no ordinary dream. Patients are offered medication and psychotherapy but it's time to offer love. In my plan we will have therapists that have learnt how to love. They will love the patients during and outside of sessions.

Now, I'm not talking about sexual or romantic love here. I'm talking about a general extreme love that is genuine.

Who wants to see a therapist specialised in giving love?

Is it possible that having too little stress is bad for you? Everyone longs to have less stress, but if you have too little of it for too long will having just a little stress TOTALLY stress you out? Just like when a person doesn't get enough exercise for a long time, then decides to go for a walk and that totally gives them out, because it's been so long since they've had any physical exercise. Can not having stress do the same thing? When exercising your ability to handle stress is it Use it or Loose it?

There are no terrible things about my childrens' childhoods, on the contrary, they were filled of love and attention. But two of them have decided that their mother is a safe person to project all their negativity on. I'm certain this is not an unusual situation. I would love to hear about others' experiences, especially if it has changed or resolved, and how that came about.

I have my health, a good job, a loving and supportive family, a good car, my own place soon and improving credit (slowly but steadily). I also have friends, people in my life who care about me.......

Yet the dating thing NEVER works out. I didn't date in hs, I went on dates in a college, had a relationship, and sort of another one, but knew lots of girls too who ALWAYS said something like "you're a great guy, "you're awesome"......

Why would they say when I ask them out and then date someone else?

I've been played lots of head games with, with women acting like they like me and then when I talk to them about it they just say "Oh, this is how I am", or "Im kind of seeing someone."
Countless times I've talked and approached women everywhere, all "types" and all of them either "had a bf", had a bf, or "let me just say, 'you're awesome'"-----

I haven't been with someone in 3 years, and while im focusing on career, it's hard sometimes.

My man thinks his penis size is too small. I keep telling him that it's not, but he is not buying it. I honestly don't think it's too small. In fact, I find it quite satisfying. It's a "grower". How can I help improve his self-esteem when it comes to the way he thinks about his schlong?

If I have my walkman on, I will sing along to it and dance if I'm waiting for a train. I couldn't give two hoots what other people think. My music is making me happy therefore I can't help but jiggle a bit. I don't sing or dance if I'm actually on the train (so as not to annoy others too much), but happily walk to and from work with a spring in my step singing along.

What I don't understand is... Why doesn't anyone else do this? How can you listen to some really funky music that you love and just makes you want to dance, but just sit there or walk along looking like something from dawn of the dead?

If you saw me walking down the street smiling, singing (not loud) and kinda striding/dancing dow the road, would you think I was a loon, would you be mildly irritated or would you be envious that you couldn't break away from the norm to outwardly show the groove of the tune YOU were listening to?
