About 2 months ago as a group of friends we all decided that we would go to Amsterdam for a long weekend. Me and two others booked it with the promise from everyone else that they would also book it. They haven't booked it and therefore it is now too expensive to go for them as it is too close to the time of travel. They have now said that they are going to go to Newquay when we are in Amsterdam. I also want to go to Newquay.......... Am I unreasonable for having a go at them because they want to go when we cannot? What is the best course of action?

Not one bit. They are the ones that made a promise and let you down. Go to Amsterdam smoke some weed and come back and tell all about what they missed out on.

Understanding and compromise. I know its frustrating, but this is the best option you have so that everyone can enjoy. It's too bad your friends didn't book the tickets before. Not many people adhere to planning, unfortunately. And it's a loss not all your friends can go together. I'm sure you don't want to miss a chance to go to Amsterday and they wouldn't want to not go to Newquay. So temporarily, take leave of the need to always be together and you can go to Amsterdam with the ones who have booked the tickets.
Perhaps, next time you can all go together.
As for you being unreasonable, i'll say its excusable :)
Bon voyage..

I would say you guys did not plan and organize well. You guys should have bought the tickets in one shot and probably could get a discount too. The same with the hotel resevations. Relying on disorganized individual efforts never works out well. Next time get everyone's commitment first and then buy the ticket together so there will be no chance of the trip expense changes.

As for now, if you could not get a refund for cancellation, maybe you can scale back how much you want to do at Amsterdam and save some money?

Screw them,

I've never heard of Newquay but I dont think it would beat a weekend in Amsterdam. Go, have an awesome time, and don't show any hint of jealousy. Nothing can be achieved by getting angry at them about it.

They don't sound like reliable friends. The fact that they would change their minds on you and the other two, tells me that whatever they say is meaningless. Can't be trusted.

Go with your other friends to Amsterdam and have a good time. Make the best of it.

Unreasonable only in view that you should have known that people are not rational or reliable.

See if someone wants to swap tickets?
