My daughter is 2 years old now and she cannot live without her "binkie" pacifier! I have tried making her go "cold turkey" but i just can't take her sad crying! She will cry and throw fits all day long! I know i need to make her give it up! But i want to do it so that it's easy on the both of us! Please help with some positive actions to take to help me help her get rid of the "plug" (which is what me and my husband call it)!

I know they are not supposed to watch TV but I find that there are only so many hours that I can play on the floor with blocks with him. We play for a couple of hours each day but that leaves a lot of time in front of the TV. Any suggestions?

My 2 year old son has started to take off his clothes and diaper at night and he is not potty trained yet. He has shown VERY LITTLE interest in the potty. He likes sitting on it but thats about it! But my question is, what does this taking off his own clothes and diaper mean? Is it time? Or is he just being a silly 2 year old? If I don't catch him taking off his clothes he would go the whole night without a diaper and then wake up in a wet bed and well.. I have to clean everything and do laundry and get him settled again. Whats the deal? What should I do?

The 2 year old will only eat junk food. Should i tell him he gets nothing apart from what i give him for dinner and let him go hungry if he wont eat it or just let him have a sandwitch and let the parents train him with the healthy food? I look after the kids approx 2 nights per week. The parents dont mind what i do.

This yahoo ask is new to me so I don't know how to continue my question If I want to.. but here it goes. great advise. I can't believe how fast you all are... I used to tap her hand and say no firmly but she started hitting her own hand the next time she was bad soo..... I stopped that ... i started the counting after saying she did something wrong, and she would repeat me - granted she's chatty but not clear counting, just mimmicking me b/c its what she does, nothing snotty or smart like. i put her in a time out chair and she just wants to get up... she has a great temprement and very happy, but just recently has started to not listen to us. i babysit a 6 mo old who requires my attn, she's going thru the jealous stuff and wants to throw things at her, when done w/dinner, she will throw food over the chair, thats a no-no too. i've read they love to explore but there is a line we must draw. she needs to know we are in charge, not her. i will attempt to implement all ideas given.

I have a 17 mo old daughter. She does not listen when we say no if she touches something she shouldn't, throws a toy b/c she's frustrated. My dh seems to be able to use his voice to make her understand but then sometimes she repeats the bad behavior. I know she's testing us but at 17 mo. - does she really understand we are trying to correct this and that she's doing something wrong? if so, why does she keep repeating these behaviors. Any suggestions of how to handle this. Anyone, please??

I have been teaching my daughter sign language since she was an infant, and am now doing a research paper for a class on it. Finding research on the subject has been difficult, and I live in a small town with a super-small library (no help there). I would love to find out more information. Any good books, wesites or other information would be great!

I turn off the TV, We all sit down down together, nothing works! She wont eat! She just plays with her food and takes like 2 or 3 bites. She doesn't snack much during the day so that's not it. I cook her favorite foods but still just a couple bites! She's very energetic and busy and just can't seem to sit still. I've tried leaving her at the table, telling her she has to sit there all night if she doesn't eat and she sits there! After an hour or so I give up. What can I do? This has been going on for like 6 months! She's not malnourished or anything but she is pretty skinny and I give her baby vitamins just to make sure she's getting something but I don't know what to do! I'm at my witts end.....

I would love thoughtful feedback on why it is that parents are afraid of finding out their child might have ADHD. I was horrified when my son was diagnosed with asthma at 6 months old. I had been brought up to think it was "all in your head" and had never had to deal with it before. I tried to "pretend" it wasn't there, but every few months we'd end up back at the DRs office for breathing treatments... until I accepted it, and now... no more problems. My son is a normal healthy boy who is treated for asthma! That is a medical issue and so is ADHD, but people treat the concept of ADHD with such passion...how come?

So im gonna start babysitting for my moms friends kids and I want to know how much to charge. She has 3 kids a 5 year old girl, a 3 year old girl and a 1.5 year old boy. I live in Dekalb ,Illinois so its a smaller town. I would be watching them from about 6-10 once a week at my house. And then starting in March from 6-9:30 two times a week at my house and she said she would send them with snacks and things. Plus we have to stay inside because her little boy has asthma and its bad in the winter. So how much do you think I should charge? And what kind of games should I play?

I got a call today offering more information about Project Headstart, which is apparently an early education program for pre-schoolers. I read through the information but it mentions nothing of the price. Is this legit? And how much does it cost (I have seen on the Internet only that it is "pricey" but not an actual amount)?

My four year old daughter has night terrors. While she has them she sleep walks. She will be running around her room screaming and crying but she is not awake. She does not remember anything in the morning. She had a sleep test a few weeks ago that came back normal. I have no clue what to do. She is so tired during the day because of the lack of sleep. I also can not get her to stop wetting the bed. I think it is because she is in such a deep sleep. Please help.
