Hi this is my second question about Potty training. Yesterday i posted about letting my daughter go to bed without a nappy. Anyway i did and she woke up after 8 hours sleep. totally dry!!!!

Now shes been nappy-free for 3 whole days and one night. I have been training her for a while, and she has been doing the loo on her potty for a while but with lots of accidents. So the past 3 days she has always went to loo or asked to go.

How long does the process normally take all in to totally train?
Shes 20 months (early i know) Im lucky!!

Thanks

i was the one who asked about him not wanting to sleep in his bed, now theres a bigger issue...he poop in the livingroom! and peed by his room. yesturday he did it again in his room he poop! his scared o going to the bathroom, its not dark theirs plenty of light for him not to be scared. this behavior started all of the sudden, first he dont whant to sleep in his bed, because his scared, even though he has a huge nightlight, and is in the same room as his sisters, and now his so scared to go into the bathroom. that he avoids it and relives himself in other places, what to do?

I am at my wits end right now trying to figure out how to stop my son from hitting us all the time. When we are out and either me or his dad is holding him and someone stops to talk to us my son will start hitting whoever is holding him it is so embarassing. He will hit and throw a tantrum when we need to leave a toy or someone he is playing with, I try to talk him out of his tantrums but I cant get close enough without being hit and sometimes kicked (in the face) if he is laying down. I know it is normal for a toddler to hit sometimes when they are frustrated but this is way over the top! At bedtime he will hit me as soon as I put him down and he wont let me tuck him in because he's standing there swatting at me. I always end up just walking away and letting him cry himself to sleep, I really hate doing that because it seems so mean, but its better than me going in and losing my temper at him. I dont know why he's doing this we are very careful about what he sees on TV and all. Help!

MY DAUGHTER TENDS TO BEAT HER HEAD ON WHATEVER SHE IS CLOSEST TO WHEN MAD. I AM SO AFRAID SHE IS GONNA END UP WITH A CONCUTION. SHE WILL NOT LISTEN TO ONE THING WE TELL HER. IT WOULD BE DIFFERENT IF SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WE WERE SAYING BUT SHE DOES BECAUSE SHE DOES WHAT WE ASK WHEN WE BRIBE HER. SHE WILL POINT HER FINGER IN OUR FACE AND SAY THINGS LIKE...HUSH YOUR MOUTH ...I'M NOT..ETC.... I KNOW SOME OF THE THINGS SHE SAYS IS WHAT SHE HAS HEARD BUT HOW DO WE STOP HER FROM SAYING IT? SHE WILL ALSO SAY EVERY CUSS WORD SHE HAS HEARD. EVERYONE SAYS WELL SHE IS ONLY REPEATING WHAT SHE HAS HEARD AND SHE DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER BUT SHE DOES BECAUSE SHE WILL SAY EVERY CUSS WORD SHE KNOWS ALL AT ONE TIME NOT JUST CASUALLY REPEATING IT. I VERY SELDOM SLIP BUT BETWEEN HER DAD, NANNY, AND OTHERS I CAN'T HELP HER EARS NOT TO HEAR SUCH. I JUST WANT TO KNOW HOW TO CALM HER DOWN WITH IT ALL...

My son will be 2 in Feb. He is very whiny. He never listens to me either. He doesn't really listen to anyone. He's had his hearing tested and can hear. He is constantly running and jumping around and disobeying me on purpose. He won't sleep in his room. He won't ever calm down. When he is tired it is like 500 times worse. he will intentionally hurt people and laugh at them. How can i get him to behave? I've tried lots of things so I thought I'd ask other parents. tried time outs, talking with him, giving him more attention, and other things.

Another thing I was wondering about is that every two weeks, you can almost time it. He will spike a fever a start throwing up. i give him tylenol and he will be better usually by the next day. Most of the time he drinks juice. He gets dairy from cheese and other things, but it seems that everytime he throws up he's had a cup of chocolate milk. I know he's not allergic bc he eats chocolate and has milk in his cereal with no problems. Any ideas?

My daughter and I are moving to Georgia in a few weeks and I am a little worried about how to keep her busy during the cold winter days.

Its hot here in Australia at the moment and from about 9am til 1pm she plays outside in her pool or playground. Then after lunch and a sleep she is back outside til dinner. This is how is has been ever since she was able to sit in a wadding pool and I am worried about how she is going to cope with being inside for so long.

Any ideas about how to help her would be great. Of course I do art and craft with her, reading and writing, and spend all day with her.

How am I going to help her deal with being inside for the next few months?

What are suitable outdoor activies during winter? Of course I am aware of the appropriate clothing that she will need to be outside. But what can I really expect for this winter being indoors with my daughter?

we have a regular bedtime routine. she also has a bedtime movie, and night light she falls asleep to. every night she gets layed down by 8-830 at the latest, but by 9-10pm she is up and hystrical. ill go in to calm her but it only works some of the time. the only way she sleeps through the night is if i put her in my bed. if i am at work at night, she wakes up the minute she realizes i have come home

the doctor says it's just from eating grown up food, but she started being constipated as soon as she stopped breastfeeding..i feel so sorry for her..to watch her strain and cry you'd think she was giving birth..some are as big as golf balls and almost as hard...we watch her purposely try not to go because she is afraid..after she goes, she is usually ok for a couple days, then she will go all day without a bm, and maybe another..once i had to actually grab one that was showing and pull it out..we use dark karo syrup, give her plenty of raisons, grapes, bran type flakes, make her drink plenty of juices...doctor says she is too young for suppositories but we resorted to them anyway, they do help but it still isn't easy..any suggestions?

My youngest, who turned 3 in September is traumatized. A couple of months ago the house next to us burned almost to the ground. We were awakened by neighbors because our roof apex was smoking too. So she was dragged out of bed at 1 am and made to wait outside for almost 4 hours before they would let us back in.

What traumatized her most was her daddy's admission that when he went back into our house to get the car keys, the firemen that came in right after him "scared" him. He meant startled.

This set off a chain of thinking in her little head that has resulted in her being afraid of EVERYTHING. We are doing a lot of things to help her with it, but one thing I want to do is write her a little story that can help her feel better about it.

Can you help me with an idea? The beginning of a simple rhyme or something about being scared? I'm coming up blank! lol Thanks!

Little bit of background: My wife is Thai and I am Australian. It is very common in Thai culture for children to sleep in the same bed as their parents right up until the teenage years. My wife was brought up this way as was all of her brothers, cousins and friends - I have to emphasise that this is normal.

To date our 18 month old boy sleeps in our bed. He is a dream of a child - very well behaved and sleeps soundly through the night. He says about 6 words but understands alot more - both English and Thai.

Should I challenge this peaceful existence by pushing fo rhim to sleep in his own bed?? Remember it is not only his behaviour but also that of my wife that will be challenged.

Also, he drinks milk from a bottle before sleep and he has one again at about 5.30 in the morning when he tends to wake - this dozes him back to sleep again. I didnt realise this would damage his teeth - is weaning him from the bottle and bed together too much??

Thanks for your help.

Andy

My son is 11 months old and i just took him off formula. I give him a snack before bed and a sippy cup to go to sleep with. the problem is that he wakes up in the middle of the night still hungry. I've heard that i should just let him cry and he will learn to go back to sleep himself. He cries so hard and for so long that I'm afraid he can hurt himself. Can he? Also does anyone know what i can do to make him sleep through the night again not returning him back to formula?
