Hi this is my second question about Potty training. Yesterday i posted about letting my daughter go to bed without a nappy. Anyway i did and she woke up after 8 hours sleep. totally dry!!!!

Now shes been nappy-free for 3 whole days and one night. I have been training her for a while, and she has been doing the loo on her potty for a while but with lots of accidents. So the past 3 days she has always went to loo or asked to go.

How long does the process normally take all in to totally train?
Shes 20 months (early i know) Im lucky!!

Thanks

I think the simple answer, although its not very helpful, is that there's not set time. I have 4 kids, and they all varied in how long it took them to be completely dry. However, it would seem that as she's gone several days without accident, you're pretty close to being there.

That said, I'd still take spare clothes with you for a month or so!

if she can go 2 weeks with only a few accidents then she will pretty much be alright . I had my first two boys out of day nappies at 2 1/2 and night nappies gone 6 months later so well done I'm hoping I can have my now 18 month boy old day trained at 2 I think boys tend to be a bit slower in this area

you don't potty train during the night until your child is about 3 years old, it;s to do with a chemical in your child's brain that tells them to wake up when they need to go so at 20 months there is no way that you can train her at night, i would say during the day to keep her dry would take you about 1-2 weeks.

hope you had a safe trip to the doctors.. no accidents. when you say potty training her are you reminding her every five minutes or so saying ;don't wet the knickers will you, do you need the potty, keep it in her mind all the time she is a bit young but sometimes people get really lucky. good luck for the future .

Sounds like you have almost cracked it already!
My boys were both late potty triners!
All i would say is as you said take spare clothes with you and keep asking her if she needs a wee.
That way she will not forget and she will start to learn how it feels when she needs to go.
Well done!

you could be lucky .My sil had her daughter trained at about the same age she got a very kidney infection doc told her she should still be wearing nappies to protect her from them.
