How old is your Lab? It sounds like your lab is cutting new teeth. I have a kitty that is three months old, and some times sucks blanket and moves his paws. ,and goes to sleep near my husband. He is getting new teeth.

Animals tend to do this if they have been taken from their mommies too early in life. They weren't able to get past the suckling reflex and comfort that it provides, and so they seek it out. We had a dog that was taken from it's mother when it was only 2 weeks old, and he did this all the time. (the mother had cancer, and had to have basically masectomies) He did this his entire life (he lived to be 8) for comfort. He sucked on everything that was soft- comforters on the bed, blankets on the couch, pillows, everything! It is just a part of missing that developmental stage that he needed to feel safe and comfortable.

why dont you put this under PETS instead of toddlers? Course my Dog is my 4 legged son, and he acts like a 2 toddler sometimes! :)

my dog does this too.. so does my cat. My cat does it cause he was taken from his mother too early. My dog does it when hes extra lovey and cuddley.. but he only does it to my stuff cause I'm the Alpha. He has worn holes in my nightgowns and a hole in the comforter on my side of the bed. sigh. I dont scold him when he does, I just try to gently pull the fabric away and tell him no. He goes through phases where he doesnt do it at all.. and other times where I cant seem to get him stop! lol
