I have tried wearing real underware, Cool alert pull ups, and reagular pull ups but none seem to work. Hes just not getting it. Am i pushing him before hes ready? I have been trying to train him for about six months, he just turned three a month ago. I had a second child about the time i started training him and i know that is affecting his sucess with training.

He could be at the very early stage of being able to go potty..but if he does not know when he is wet..or does not know that he has peed on the potty..I would say he is not quite ready. Ask him if he wants to use the potty at changing time..let him decide. Do not worry..he will be ready at his own time. This is not something that can be forced..some children are ready before others. Where I work at daycare, there are many 3 year year old not complete ready. Most are boys. They seem too take a bit longer than girls for some reason. I have seen where one day the child is in diapers..there next..he says..no more..and is fully ready...Each child has their own program inside them of when it is time for something.

It doesnt sound like your child is quiet ready yet.

I just saw where you have been trying for 6 months to train him...that is way to long to be doing this. Your child is clearly notr ready..and if you force him, or keep making him go on a potty when his body is not ready, you are just wasting his time..and yours. Take a break from it..leave it for a while..just relax..he is still very young. I work in daycare with preschoolers 2-5. and have child devolpment major. I'm also a mom...so i've lived it..learnt it..and still living it!

He may not be ready. My son just turned two and is showing interest in using the restroom. He generally brings me a diaper immediately after wetting himself, so he definitely knows what is happening. Now, we are just working on getting to the potty on time! Just relax and let him take the lead!

He think your son does get it. It just takes time. It is good he will sit on the potty and go. He is trying. Boys train much slower than girls. He will get it. Trust me. In fact my son is doing the same thing. How long have you been training? This is my second child Just give it time.

My son is 3 and Lordy lordy lordy does he get on my nerves about telling me he has to potty. I trained my son by letting him watch his dad at first. Then I moved up to putting cheerios in the commode and telling him if he rings the cheerios he would get a surprize. If you teach them that potting is an excitement and they will get prizes they think its a game and just not a boring task. For the prizes, we would draw pictures, paint, eat candy, go to the park, go get ice creams, etc. Oh and the bribe of CANDY...always works. Hope this helps you out.

Just take off the diapers completely. It really works. At three he should really be reaching a point where he knows before he goes. If you take away the option of the diaper he will use the potty.

Keep putting him in regular underwear so he can feel it. When he pees his underwear make sure to point it out and say "let's change these wet pants" so he realizes that they are wet. Don't worry though. Some kids use the potty but still don't get it :-)

I used the "purpose a the cheerios" sport for pee they usually each seemed ahead to move pee and for the poo I used briefs and they did not like the sensation of being soiled so my children favored going to the bathroom than to do their industry of their briefs. I needed to do plenty of washing however they obtained the factor. Also, do not push him simply permit it take its path.

here's what i learned with our first child...let them make the moves. i wasted so much time and energy trying to toilet train, i drove myself nuts!
encourage, offer the toilet, etc, but my best advice is let them be the guide.
