My niece always does this and I want to "warn" her enough till she will use the restroom when she needs to.

Loss of bladder control and infections in the liver and kidney. My sister was made to hold it during most of her kindergarder year, and it led to her having back pains (from her kidney), a kidney infection, kidney failure, and multiple bladder infections. So tell your niece to go when she has to go!

Bladder infections, and bad bowel movements. intestinal blocking, which can cause the child to also throw-up since there is no other route out, intestinal infections, bowel diseases, even ulcers, loss of appettite, also causing malnutrition and dehydration. So it's probably best to encourage not holding it!

inabilty to properly control bladder & bowls. My nephew did it to himself . He is now 8 and pees when walking uo the stairs or runnung if he has to poop he has to run.. he get no advance warning.

it's possible to get a bladder infection depending on what the child is holding urine or feces the they can get real sick and it can cause serious problems
