We are going on a week long vacation in a couple of weeks. Should we wait until we get back from vacation to start potty training her? For a few weeks now, she's been grabbing at her diaper when it's dirty. And she stays dry for longer periods of time now. We've introduced her to the potty already, so she does know what it's for, but I'm afraid to actually try and potty train her right now when we will be going on vacation soon. I think it would be too hard to start now and continue on vacation in a strange place. What do I do? Should I try now, or wait until we get back from vacation? She will be just over 17 months when we get back. Any suggestions would help. Thanks!

My daughter is 19 months and is very interested in potty training. She will sit on the potty with out her diaper and go a little bit and when she gets up she will go on the floor. When you put her diaper or pullups back on she will go in it and not try to go to the potty. When she does good we give her a gummy worm. What do I do?

My son just started going potty (pee) about a week ago. At home he goes by him self and never has an accident. But this week we have been trying to get him to go at the baby sitters and he refuses. What can I do to make him want to go when he is there?

My nearly three year old often mixes up words or interchanges syllables, when I try to teach her "This old man" she sings the chorus as
"Knick Knack, Knacky Knack, Knicker Knacker Bore"

Of if I tickle her saying Goochie Goochie, she responds Chugie Chugie

Should I correct her or will it pass?

Serious answers only, please.

I'm 16.Next week my sister's husband relatives will come to visit(they have 2-year-old son) and I won't tell you all the story but I'll have to look after the kid for a few hours while they are out(at dinner or in the city-centre).I want to ask you what are the best games which I could play with a 2-year-old boy.I know everything about the safety he needs in the room but I don't know what games or toys to offer him.And what can I do to make him get used to me?He doesn't know me(neither do I know him) and his parents have seen me only once.So what can I do?

My little boy will be 2 next month. He recently has decided that he will chew something to the point of getting it into a nice ball of mushy food and then parks it on the inside of his cheek. He'll keep it there for hours if we don't check to see that he has swallowed the food.

Unfortunatly i dont have her on any kind of insurance and i cant afford to take her to the doctor right now.
First day she started complaining I tried to take the air out of her ear by rolling up a newspaper and lighting it on fire to see if that would help but it didnt and i remember her pediatrican telling me to flush her ear with peroxide one of the times she had an ear ache. So for the past couple of days ive been doing this but her ear just doesnt seem to get better. Please help me out

My daughter knows all the alphabets-capital letters A-Z since she was 20 mos. now, whenever she sees words, she'll name each letter. but when it comes to small letter, she gets confused and asks me "what's this?" i told her it was "a", then she said "no!". she pointed at "A" and said "this is A!"
she's very interested in reading.
what is the best way to teach her small letters w /o confusing her with the capitals?

thank's for all ur advice!

I have been good friends with a woman for over 21/2 years, since our daughters were 3 month old. Last year her daughter was diagnosed as non-verbal autistic. She receives intensive therapy and has made great strides, but she is only functioning at a 12- month level. I am extremely supportive of my friend and their situation. For reasons that we can only guess (frustration?), her daughter has started to bite my daughter when they play together, especially if my daughter is too "in her face." Bite as in teeth marks, bruising. Unfortunately, that is often - my daughter is very maternal towards her friend and tries to help her with things, whether it's leading her somewhere or giving her something (toy, food, etc.). My friend chastises her daughter, but only after the deed has been done. She is not "on top of her" as I think she should be, just as any parent whose child bites should be. What can I do? Is this the beginning of the end of our children playing together?

Anyone has the same experiences? What should I do?

My 3 year old daughter is taking speech therapy. Her therapist grabs her face and "yanks" her hands to get her attention. She gets upset and raises her voice when my daughter does not pay her attention or answers incorrectly. I want to know is this is a common practice used by Speech Pathologist?
I brought the concern to her attention but she says we are from two different schools of thinking. Should I change therapist? and if I do change what should I look for in a speech therapist?

Most of my kids toys are battery operated so I am unable to wash the items in water. But the corners and crevices are gross. I can't get a washcloth in there. My fingers are too big. How can I clean them?
Thank you in advance.

My boy has never slept a whole night, not even sleeping in our bed. He only will sleep about 2 hrs alone in his room and after he will start crying or just jump into our bed. I have let him cry, gotten in his bed while he falls asleep, read him books, left a light, even put a mattress by our bed and he still won't sleep alone or the whole night. He was breast fed for 2 years, some say all breast fed babies do this, but I can't beleive till their almost 4????

My 2 1/2 year old wanted me to touch his penis. I asked him if anyone else has touched his penis and he said his sister. She is 4 1/2. I in turn asked her why is she touching her brother. She said because he told me to. I am just a little worried about this kind of behavior and was wondering if I should schedule some sort of counseling. I am a mother of four and this never happened with the first two.
