Unfortunatly i dont have her on any kind of insurance and i cant afford to take her to the doctor right now.
First day she started complaining I tried to take the air out of her ear by rolling up a newspaper and lighting it on fire to see if that would help but it didnt and i remember her pediatrican telling me to flush her ear with peroxide one of the times she had an ear ache. So for the past couple of days ive been doing this but her ear just doesnt seem to get better. Please help me out

If you lye her head on a hot water bottle it helps. You can also use a hairdryer on low to blow warm air into her ear. Most ear infections don't require antibiotics and will clear up on their own. You could give her childrens Tylenol for the discomfort. God Bless

Here's a website with helpful information:

Antibiotics are not always given with ear infections. There's a debate going around and the Dr.s are discussing how affective antibiotic really help with ear infections.
You have to treat the pain. Many Dr.s recommend rotating Tylenol with say Advil. Advil lasts longer so that's what I would give her before bed.
I can understand why it hurts at night. When all we are doing is laying there trying to sleep the body has more time to focus on the pain. During the day she probably plays through it. Just think how much more a toothache hurts at night than during the day.
Also at the drug store they have ear pain relief drops. Go get them. If this pain persists for a few days you really should have her seen. Calling to find out if you have free health care for her was a good idea. I know in Virginia people who have children and no insurance get insurance from the State for just the kids.
Good luck

You HAVE to take this girl to the doctor sweetie. Can't you get medical assistance of some kind for her if you aren't insured? She probably has an ear infection and it will only get worse. In the mean time of course give her whatever pain medicine for kids you have, but that will not work to totally numb it; my son had chronic ear infections as a toddler and the nights when they came on were endless and awful. I do know a lady at work recently told me she used to heat up a little bit of olive oil (be VERY careful with the temp), and pour it in her kid's ears to help this kind of pain. I have never tried this and would suggest getting her to a doc RIGHT AWAY! Surely your area must have a county health dept or something that does child health care issues-look in the phone book in the blue pages. Good luck!

What do you mean by lighting a newspaper on fire?!?! Never heard of that treatment. My son gets ear infections all the time. We had the tubes done. Now no more infections. If you can't get her checked, keep using the peroxide spray at night. She really needs an antibiotic, though and you should be eligable for some sort of government assistance. If you go to the hospital w/ no insurance, they still have to treat you. Find out.

It sounds like she has an ear infection...usually it won't bother a child until they lay down. It may correct itself, but if it she is still complaining after a couple more days she probably needs antibiotics. There are OTC meds that can numb the ear which some dr's give for ear infections...also when she goes to bed, try propping her up on more pillows or something to keep her from laying flat. I don't think you should try to flush out her ear anymore since the fluid that is already in there is what is causing the pain. Good luck...hope she feels better soon!

She has an ear infection, she needs treatment asap. If you don't, you run the risk of her eardrum rupturing.when this happens there will be unbearable pain, followed by a brownish, redish discharge.
she will need antibiotics, and motrin.
The reason it only hurts when she lies down is that when she is in that position, there is a ton of pressure on her little eardrums, and when they are awake, and upright, there is no pressure, That is why earaches always happen at night, when they are laying down. She can have a serious infection without a fever, so, if she is complaining at night, DO NOT ignore, otherwise, she can suffer unimaginable pain. Please find a way to get her to the doc...I found out the hard way, with my daughter!

Good Luck, and keep liquid motrin on hand for discomfort, and just follow the weight doseage.

Firstly I would start several days of NOT doing any of those tricks from the doctor...leave it alone and see what happens. Is the pain accompanied by a fever at all? If it is an infection then only anti biotics will help...so a doctor may be neccessary. I too have no insurance and if it were me I would go to the emergency room...only because they HAVE to see her and treat her regardless of coverage. Tell them she had a high fever so they take it more seriously ( one fib wont kill ya besides its for a good cause) tell them you gave her tylenol to treat the fever (so they dont think your nuts if when they take her temp and it is normal) I have a feeling she may have fluid in her inner ear that causes pain when she lays on it....
good luck

There is this small bottle of Hyland's swimmers ear drops. Even if it is not swimmers ear, it will get the fluid out and you can use it allot since it is natural. I also wonder if you might have done something the first night or so, like stay in bed with her longer, or let her sleep with you, then it may just be that she knows how to get what she wants, which is normal.
Also, I am not sure of where you live, but I know allot of states provide health care coverage for children to 18 yrs., so, you might look into that so you don't have to worry about money when your baby gets sick or hurt. I do understand and sympathize with your situation, but there are plenty of programs to look into for child health care coverage. Good Luck!

Maybe she is yanking mommy's chain. Not being mean but she is at that age where she is learning to opperate (manipulate) people. and mayb she doesn;t want to go to bed and is enjoying the attention from mommy! She is way to young for you to be doing the newspaper thing! You should go to your pharmacy and get some sweetoil. You put a couple of drops in her ear and then put a little bit of cotton ball in. But maybe you should try having some special mommy and baby time like reading her a story after you put her in bed, and maybe thse earaches will just disapear.
Especially if she is not having any problems during the day. An ear infection would hhurt all the time not just at bed time.

First - I would strongly suggest NOT using a newspaper to do candlewicking in the ear. The newsprint and chemicals could be damaging. Second - to help her ear have her lay with a hot water bottle on that side of the head. That can help the pain. But I would suggest a Community health center or a prompt care if this has been going on for several days. They can not turn down service because you can not pay. . . and they will make payment arrangements with you.
