My daughter is 19 months and is very interested in potty training. She will sit on the potty with out her diaper and go a little bit and when she gets up she will go on the floor. When you put her diaper or pullups back on she will go in it and not try to go to the potty. When she does good we give her a gummy worm. What do I do?

Her being interested in it is a very good start. Alot of people make the mistake of pushing their kids to potty train when they simply aren't ready. If I were you, I would skip the pull ups. They are a waste of time and don't really contribute to the potty training whatsoever. It's like saying to your child "Here, here's a bigger and thicker diaper that you can pee in"---they send mixed messages. You just need to keep her in the diapers until you can trust her later on with underwear. For now, just keep asking her if she needs to go potty. Ask her once or twice an hour. Make sure you give her lots of praise when she tells you she does and make sure to give her even more praise if she uses the potty--even if she gets up and goes a little on the floor like you mentioned she's done before. If she does go on the floor, just tell her that's okay and that it was an accident. Making a big deal out of mistakes like that might cause her to not be interested in potty training anymore. If she does start to not be interested in it, the best thing you can do is stop training her. Take a break if she starts to not like it anymore and later on start her up on it again. Anyway, good luck and God bless.

For me the summer worked the best - I let my daughter run around naked and we had the potty right in the room so it was in front of her eyes all the time. She had plenty of accidents, but it took only few days for her to realize she has to go BEFORE she actually starts making. Then we were able to put underpants on her and move the potty to the bathroom, I just had to be reminding her pretty often to go.

you are on the right track. GOOD JOB! she will get it. however, my daughter was potty trained at an amazing 14 months. my husbend just talked to her. all alone. he said "I know you can potty in the tolite, will you do it for me and mommy?" and she just did it. never had an accident. I'm a firm believer in rewards just like your doing. I could have never just "told" her. and her do it. HA! but try someone she really respect, (an older cousin, a grandparent). have someone just say it to her. maybe you'll get lucky I did. but in case you don't I think you are doing the perfect thing. Perfect. Shell get it when "she" is ready,

keep letting her sit on the potty, but don't force it. my daughter did the EXACT same thing at a young age, and pottied for a week and then just stopped. Now she is almost 3 and we just recently potty trained her.
