Parenting - February 2007

My twin sister & her husband used to neglect her & not feed her, & neither would they change her diaper. They never let me change the baby's diaper. As a result, she used to be shitty from head to toe. She's now 3 & poor baby's gotta suffer. Is that the possible reason why she's this way?

My son was born 5 days over due..but had alot of problems, mainly his lungs collapsed coz there was air around his lungs.

He was in the NICU for 2 weeks and came home after that. When he was discharged from the hospital the doctor said that they had no way of telling if it had caused any permanent damage to him, until he started hitting his milestones...so i went away feeling ok about things...

but then when he was 6 months old he didnt sit up, which is the normal age, he only sat up at 11 months..

same with walking..instead of about 12 months, he didnt walk till he was just past his 2nd birthday...
also many other things have been slower...

now i have convinced myself that there is something wrong with him, not mentally coz he has no probs with speech etc...but i cant get it out of my head that he is in some way disabled...

My health visitors are fed up with me ringing them all the time, and said that there is nothing wrong with him. Am i being stupid?

What do you enjoy doing without the kids? What hobbies do you have? Since having kids I do not have any hobbies. All I do is clean clean clean. I went to the library once to check out a book and by the time I got around to actually read it the book was over due. My kids are getting a little older and less needy i would like to find a hobby for myself when I have the time. Both of my kids are very independant 23 months old and 4 yrs old. Or is there any hobbies that the kids and I could do together? Any tips to get me started would be great. Thanks!

If my children are yelling or anything that is bad I give them 3 warning and then I rush them to the bathrooms pull their pants and underwear down an tear I mean just tear their butts up. I do not believe in being disrespected by my children is that bad?

I need name suggestions for my WAHM business/website. Just a way to make money in my spare time. I'm hoping to do mostly internet sales.
I make beaded Jewelry. I'm just getting started. I plan to also make other small crafts. I'm starting small. I know he hears me, but if I say "no" "stop" "put it back" etc...he will ignore what I say and continue on.
I m getting fed up with his behaviour as if he doesnt listen to me now, what will he be like a 5? 15?
Any ideas on how to make him listen?

5:00 this morning i wake up and by bf is also awake, he starts to je*k o*f...says it's taking too long and wants to watch some quick por* cause having s*x will take at least 30 mins...he asked me to roll over, he didn't feel comfortible with me "watching", so i rolled over (needless to say i was upset/mad and cried to myself), then he finishes, asked me to roll (back) over and wants me to hold him (we hold eachother all the time), i couldn't help but to be angry/upset with him....i don't know if i am feeling this way unjustified...let me know your thoughts! and i'm not going to break up with him or anything over this, i just want to know if i am taking this too personal or whatever...he doesn't want me to think that he is using me for sex so he is very careful about how much we do it (even though it's a lot)...oh...and he said, it's just easier for me to hit the play button and get it done real quick, rather than wake you up, convince you, then do it...so apparently this happens often

my son just turned 1 and for a month now he has been biting me
he will make kissing noises then he will dive for me and bite me on my arms my hands my breast anywhere he can get to. the thing is he does not bite my boyfriend or my boyfriends parents who we are living with. so i was wondering if this a normal 1 year old stage. i tell him no biting but he is 1 and does no t understand what i am saying he just laugh and keeps doing it. i do have a 1 year dr appoment on the 20th should i bring this up to the dr . any feed back would be great thank you

Help, my 11 yr old step-daughter has a problem with lying...about everything from homework to what she eats and to lies that really cause problems for the whole family. Right now all she gets is reading, she has to read when on punishment but now it doesn't bother her....HELP

I have been married for 3 years now, he has a daughter who is 11 and has learned the art of lies very well. So well that she tells stories about me that aren't true, steals from ME and will act like a different, mean child when her father is not around. I have dealt with this for so long now and it just gets worse, last night she tells me that she hates me and hopes that her father and I divorce, she admits to several lies and admits that she hopes he'll leave me. What can I do? she hasn't realized that she is making herself miserable, espiecally when she gets caught and then receives punishment which is she has to read. I don't know what to do or how to handle it, her real mother left her years ago and all she has is her dad. I love and care for her but doesn't seem to be good enough...nothing is....any advice

I have 3 children.
A 2 year old
A 4 year old, and a 7 year old.
Boy, girl, boy.
They all have an on-going plan to keep me on my toes. Two of them formulate a plan of destruction, whilst the other one acts as a distraction.
In short, they are driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every day I pack lunch for my boyfriend's daughter to take to middle school. In years past she's been pretty good about eating it all. She tells me what she does and doesn't like - and I give her foods that I know she eats at home. An average day's lunch would be a turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread, a yogurt tube, some grapes, some mini carrots, and a box of orange juice. She has told me repeatedly that she prefers packed lunches to what is offered at school. Lately - she comes home with the fruit, the juice and the yogurt uneaten. I've asked what the reason might be - and she has no answer other than "I don't know." We talk with her about how some foods help your immune system and others help your organs - etc. But she won't eat the lunch. Her appetite at breakfast and dinner is just fine. She always has room for snacks or dessert. I'm guessing she's just socializing at school and not taking the time to eat. Has anybody else had this problem? What did you do?

My 16 year old daughter had a baby by a 17 year old who obviously does not care for her or the baby. He did not even sign the birth certificate. He tells her he cares but, I know and can tell that he doesn't. He hasn't even gotten a job. I am taking her to a counselor next week to help build up her confidence in choosing her life with school and continuing education to better herself inside and out. She has our support and love to achieve these things. I want her to make a life to support herself and her child and possibly marry a man that she deserves. She is a smart girl and beautiful however she makes bad choices on the idiots she chooses. Has anyone had a simuliar situation they have dealt with? Any advice... should I let the boy see the baby? My daughter thinks that he still loves her and cares for the baby. I have seen his actions and believe that he is fake. Just my motherly intuition. I just want the best for her and my grandchild.

I need to get first shoes for my 1 year old son..he is cruising and every so oftem, he will take a few steps by himself. I know it's better for the baby to go barefoot but i need the shoes out in public as his socks get nasty when we are out...do i have to get the traditional high top sneicker for him for ankle support or can i go with a regular sneicker?
