Kids run clean STUPID over me, & when I try to put them in their place, their parents tell me that they have a right to talk to me like trash.

So those kids are jerks like their parents. Doesn't mean u can't have kids. It would probably make you a better parent.

They are NOT your kids... Wait till those kids turn 13, the parents will go.. "What did I do wrong."

Kids should respect their elders.

They have a RIGHT to talk trash to you? You have the right to tell them to get out of your house or classroom or wherever they may be.

The more I see some of these questions in Yahoo Answers I wonder how STUPID people are parenting children. No wonder children today grow up and can’t cope with life. Can’t balance a checkbook without a calculator, can’t find work, and are shooting up their schools with guns.

You have a kid (when it’s time).. I bet you will do great… I bet your kids will respect you more because you gave them discipline.

Respect is earned not demanded, especially when you are dealing with other people's children. My recommendation to you is to stay away from "their parents", as they obviously do not respect you either by the ignorant comments they make. Discipline is important for a child as well as manners, and unfortunately, these days, these important moral items are overlooked by many parents, who are either too busy, or just don't care.

I'm not saying all parents are like this, however, to answer your question more directly, YOU decide how to raise your kids, you give them the tools and the love so that they grow up to be outstanding individuals. Again, if other kids are running over you, maybe it is not your place to "put them in their place", and instead, just walk away from them. Now, if you are a teacher, and your students are doing this, you need to speak with the parents, guidance counselors, etc., to help the child.

That sounds like the parents fault not the kids. Your children will be different because you wont put up with that kind of behavior from them and they will know it. You kind of ease into being a parent as the child grows and you will be fine.

Geez, stay away from those kids and their parents!

With your own child, it's up to you. If you raise them with expecations early on, you have won half the battle.

If your child never feels like they can WHINE and BEG and CRY until you give in, if that tactic never ever works for them, trust me, they will give it up right away. But, as an example, if you give in one time, and they want something another time...they have logged that in their head. They remember "Oh, mom gave in after I called her names last time." or "Oh, mom let me have that thing in the store after I screamed REALLY loudly...I can do that!"

See what I mean? Never give in to tantrums. Set clear boundaries. If your kids never know when you will go back on a NO then they will try everything to sway you.

Good luck and hang in.
