Circumcision was used to prevent boys from masterbating in the 1800s that is how it got popular in the modern era. But most parents don't worry about that anymore. So why do most people do it today?

The only reasons people circumcise their sons now are religion, ignorance or selfishness.

No medical organization in the world recomends infant circumcision, most speak against it. It is not healthier, cleaner and causes damage to the most sensitve part of the male anatomy.

According to the Canadian Pediatric Society, most people have their sons cut to "look like Dad" or because they don't understand how the intact penis works(it actually PROTECTS the penis from infection) and think it's cleaner.

Most people are educating themselves now though, and are leaving their sons intact. The circumcision rates have declined drastically in North America over the last generation, and are continuing to do so.

Education is the key.

The US and some primitive desert tribes still circumcise, it is done in the US because our doctors like to make easy money and because some females think it is neat that they can have a males genitals cut. Sigmund Freud recognized circumcision as what it is, symbolic castration. These girls that say they would never have a man that isn't cut are really saying they want their own eunuch, they want some of his maleness cut off (really as much as possible cut off).

The health benefits would actually be the same for females to be circumcised too, and yes they do have "extra" skin that hangs there all wrinkly and gross too. They would look a lot "neater" with a little "snip" job too, and they would be easier to clean (girls are harder to clean than boys with foreskins are)

Nobody, boy or girl, needs to be cut to "fit in" or to look like dad or anybody else, or any of these other stupid "easier to keep clean", "might get an infection", "might get AIDS if he goes to Africa and screws around without a condom" reasons. They are all B.S. reasons to mutilate a child.

It is time to leave these primitive tribal customs in the dark ages and quit mutilating children. Children are entitled to grow up with their whole body, not just what somebody decides to leave them with.

Circumcision USED to be the norm, but it is no longer. approximately 50% of newborn boys are circumcised in today's hospitals, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. As a result of the decline in circumcisions, boys would no longer experience the ridicule of being different, since 1/2 of the boys in their class would be like them. Circumcision also has not been proven to be "cleaner" or to "prevent diseases" either. Any circumcision is being done strictly for religious or personal reasons.

It's the norm for boys to be circumsized? I wasnt circumsized and I dont know that many people that have (I went to a high school where communal showers were mandatory, trust me, you try not to know, but somehow you still know). Personally I think messing around with any part of the body is like messing with God's plan.

Because Jews and Muslims do it for religious reasons and also circumcised men and boys have a lower chance of getting STDS or HIV than uncircumcised men and boys. It is also easier to clean and healthier for the boys and men.

Now people believe it's cleaner for a penis to be circumsized. The foreskin would build up bacteria and you have to clean it all the time. That is the belief, but scientific proof said there's really no need to circumsized. I circumsized my son only because my husband is and I don't want him to ask how come his penis is different than his dad's. I personally don't care whether he is or is not circumsized.

The risk of infection is higher on boys who are not circumcised. From not being able to properly clean while they are younger to STD's when they are older.

I heard it was cleaner and my brother told me since everyone was circumsized in like third grade kids used to make fun of the child that wasn't and also for esteem reasons, being it is the norm.
