I have 3 daughters, ages 7,4 and 3.I read how parents advice other parents not to leave their kids alone, because of strangers.Well, people,I have to go out and leave the kids alone at home and I think a simple lock on the door will be effective enouth and a lot cheaper than a baby-sitter every time I need to go out.Why don't you just buy locks for your doors and stop living like in a cave where everyone(criminals too) can enter?

Why in the hell do parents get locked up for disciplining their kids, (and I don't mean child abuse), but locked up if u don't control them 2? The state will lock YOU up if you don't pick them up if they get arrested, won't even let them stay overnight just for the experience?? I finally told mine we'll go TOGETHER if he ever gets wrong!! What hapened to experience as the teacher?

There is a 2 1/2 year old boy at my daughter's day care who consistantly arrives and leaves in vehicles without carseats. This has been going on at least two weeks. (Probably longer, but now we have a similar schedule, so that's how long I have been witnessing it.) I have brought it up to his teachers and the director, but nothing has been done. It may be a money issue with the parents, but that is not an excuse - there are plenty of places and people in our area who can help out... the day care itself is run through a church. As a parent and a teacher I cannot continue to ignore this.
What would you do now?

I'm not really fond of most video games, between the violence and "mindless" sort of passtime that means that often personal care, social life, homework, chores, or family times get neglected.... anybody else feel the same way? I let my teen have/use gaming systems, but he knows how I feel and is careful not to over-do it.

My husband and I have a 19 month old daughter that we ADORE. shes very laid back and happ. We know for certain we want more children, possibly 4 total. Lately, I think about having another child all the time. I realize that our daughter would be about 2 1/2 even if I got pregnant right now. She's already potty trained, sleeps all night, etc. My husband doesnt want to start trying yet until we are more financially stable. But we werent planning on our first child, and everything worked out beautifully. I think if we wait until our lives are "better" it will never happen. Its never the "ideal" time to have a child. We are happily married, and love being parents. I think about it all the time, and I want our children to be no more than 3 or 4 years apart. A lot of friends and family have been having babies. Is it just baby-envy that I am experiencing, or is my soul telling me its about time for another child? Have any other mothers experienced baby-craving?

As a generation, we are trying hard to be the best parents we possibly can. This daunting task is being made even more difficult because we Americans have been convinced into the idea that an over-scheduled, frenetic, hyper-parenting child rearing style is the best way to raise children. Actually, rearing kids in this way has damaged our family lives and has harmed our children’s capacity to create and to be self-reliant. It also may also be contributing to the unusually large number of children diagnosed with ADD and depression, and adolescents who get involved with drugs, alcohol, and premature sex. As a hyper-parent in partial recovery -- on some days -- I think that our child rearing style often undermines the goals we cherish. It actually may be diminishing our children’s ability to reflect, introspect, and become thoughtful adults who feel that they are the authors of their own lives rather than frauds living a role in someone else’s script.

I have been taking care of my one year old son by myself with no help at all from the father. He has never held his son, played with him, fed him a bottle, and so on. Basically I get no type of assistance at all. In my opinion that makes you a single mother.

Why do females that either get child support or some type of help from the father meaning diapers, toys, or as much as a day out with the child consider themselves to being single mothers when technically theyre not doing it ALL by themselves. Is it because they are not with the father and are single or what?

This may sound weird but it pisses me off when a female with ANY type of assistance from the father always runs around complaining about being a single mother when in reality single means one, as in one parent doing EVERYTHING by themselves.

When will they realize that they get it sooo much better than us true single mothers and shut up complaining when they at least got one pack of diapers when we never got any?

Im 25 years old and have never met my real father, I have just recently asked my mother for any information she may have on him but it was very limited. My mother is 45 and said he was a bit older, his first name is Michael and his last name may be Crough but my mother was not 100% on that. In 1981 he was an I.T. person for a major computer company of the time doing work at Luke AFB in Arizona, she was in her 20's when she got pregnant, when she told him he said he didn't want involved so she left to come back home here in Oklahoma. I have no idea how to track down someone with this limited of information so any help or advice any of you may have could be very helpfull, thanks.

My wife and I respect other peoples decisions on whether they choose to work or choose to stay home with their kids. However, we receive lots of really rude, strongly opionionated comments from stay at home moms often. Comments include, 'I decided to raise my kids and not have somebody else do it.' Or we're playing with the kids in the yard and a stay at home mom will say 'It's so nice to see you spending some time with your kids.' Interestingly, I've near heard a working parent throw negative opions or comments at stay at home mothers. Why are some stay at home mom's so angry and why do they feel the need to verbalize their opinions? Has anybody else experienced this rude behavior? My kids are in a GREAT day care. They are well-socialized. They are confident. I believe they are getting great educational experiences every day and working on creative projects. My kids are extremely happy. We are saving for their future. What is so wrong?

It was supposed to be a surprise but I accidentally saw my gift before she could cover it up, and she started to cry because she really wanted it to be a surprise.....has this ever happened to anyone? if so was acting like I didn't see anything a good reaction for me?

My kids are in a GREAT daycare, so we are safe now. However, what do parents do when the kids enter school and there are summer vacations and fall breaks? What do you do for child care then? We have no relatives in the area or neighbors we feel comfortable with watching our kids. What do you do?

My child was trying to immitate a child he knows at day care. He has been studdering ever since. He does not have any jaw tension, or loss of eye contact, so doctors do not feel it is a "true" studder.

Its almost a year now, since my son died, He was 18 years old and involved in a car accident. It took 27 days in intensive care for his body to finally give up. First he had his splean removed, then his whole intestines, finally when they removed his stomach, his body gave up. He wasnt even driving, he was a sober pasenger in a car with a sober driver. and he had his seat belt on (this is what caused the dammage), The dirver only had a sprained wrist. The other 2 pasengers escaped totally un harmed.. HOW IS THIS RIGHT??? Im trying to continue with life but i feel no purpose. I have another son (aged 17), but he is really indipendant and copes with 'his stuff, his way' I have no partner, or anyone i could call a close friend as I don't mix with people well. Both my parents have also died (in the last 12 months), so no help there.,
(most other family a waste of time) Anyone in a position to help, I don't know where to turn.

My son has been getting constipated almost everyday. It's started since he began table foods. I have started giving him prune juice and plum smart juice, but it doesn't help loosen it right away. I think the finger foods and table foods are too much for him right now. I'm going to switch back to purreeed baby food for a while. What other foods will help with the constipation? He just had a bad bowel movement that was so hard it tore him a little.
