My wife and I just had a baby boy who is 6 weeks old and he normally is very quiet and has always eaten very well. Today is the first day that he has cried pretty much the whole time he has been awake. He isn't sleeping very well today either. Any parents ever have a kid that can do a complete change in the way they act (i.e )from laughter to screaming. We have tried everthing from holding him, the vibrating chair, swing, cuddling, feeding, but nothing is working today. Is it possible that it is just belly cramps or gas? Please Help --- Thanks

My son is now 7 weeks old. Within the past two weeks, everytime I try to burp him he screams and cries. He will not calm down until he's full. He does have a bad case of colic but, I know for a fact thats not why he's crying while being burped. There is a definate cry/scream when he's bothered by the colic/gas. If I wait til he's done eatting to burp him he throws up(not spits up). And if I try to burp in between he throws a fit. I don't know what to do. Either way gives him a bad stomach ache. I had to switch to Nestle Good Start, the Similac was tearing his stomach up. Could there be something wrong? He's fine when he's full.

My son is 8 1/2 months old. My mom watches him twice a week while I work. The last time I took him over there, she was very excited about the new walker she bought for him.

I know that they are no longer recommended.

But, is it safe for him to use it two days a week?

Also, I'm pretty sure she's not only using it for 15 minutes at a time twice a day. From what she was saying, he might be spending 15 minutes at a time or longer, every hour or more. She said he just LOVES it, and when I went to pick him up he was just running up and down the kitchen floor (the only place he can go in it), chasing the dog and banging into the table.

I'm just concerned. Is it one of those things I should let go for sake of family peace, or is it really dangerous enough that I need to say something?

I'm breastfeeding my 2 month old baby and she's been eating every 2 hours since she was born. I've read that the time between feedings should be expanding now. When will she start to go longer? BTW she eats for about 10 minutes when she eats and stops herself, I don't stop her. Thanks!

What are your thoughts about putting rice cereal in the baby's bottle?

Me, I am against it, but my bf is getting mad cause I won't do it. He says he wants a say in what his son eats, but he does eat it from a spoon. He also wanted to give it to him when he was 2 weeks old, and I said no, he got mad. He said his mom did it.

do you count by weeks(four weeks=month)? or by complete months (may 4th to june4th=month)? for example - my son is 15 weeks old - almost 4 months by the first method and 3 months on august 4th by the second method. how do you count it at this age?

I am white and I have a 1 month old black foster son. Any time I take him into public the older black women yell at me and tell me that I better cover his face from the breeze (in 90 degree weather) or he will get colic. They also say that having him out in night air will cause colic. I just laugh cause I think it's silly. Have you ever heard this? Why do people think this?

My mom never used them with me and my siblings, and she seems disappointed in a way that I just assumed I would use them with my baby. She also was strict with us about taking the bottle away for good at our first birthday. I was just curious to know for moms who do you a binkie, when did you introduce it, and when did you take it away? did you feel it was beneficial to use one??

I am not sure how all of this works. I know at one year he is supposed to start drinking milk but he doesn't like anything cold. What has been your experience? Also, what portions do you recommend when weaning from breastmilk to cow's milk?

Which of these is better for a new baby? Do you Mamas think they are almost the same thing? I have heard rave reviews for both, but certainly dont need both!

I do this stuff at work all the time, but now it is MY baby and I get all nervous. With clipping his nails and everything do at the hospital. His foreskin is starting to seperate. Today was the first time I got to roll it back a little bit. Abit of fluid came out and I cleaned all the white stuff from birth in there. But it was a little bit red as it had never been touched before because it hadn't seperated yet. I used a warm cloth and dried it. Should I put vaseline it to lubercate and aborb any moiture I missed in drying it? God, you'd think I'd never done this before.. but I haven't on a baby... just elderly men, that is a little different

How can I tell if my 7 month old son has diarrhea? He usually poops 3 times a day, spread out across the day. For about 3 days he has been going 3-5 times per day. He has gone 3 times already this morning (it is almost noon). It is looser, but only once have I seen what I would call watery. He just got over some congestion.... should I call the doctor?

My 4 week old son has hard lumps under his breast area...I didn't notice it until last night. One breast is larger than the other. I know that I read in my books that it's normal for the breasts to be swollen - but this seems to be different than just swollen. They seem to be like knots or lumps under the his actual breast. I wasn't sure if it has something to do with my hormones still being inside him or what. But I have been really worried about it. Does anyone know if this is normal?

::iam NOT trying to sound like a le leche freak, or post holier than thou questions::

Health reasons aside, why choose bottles over breast?

I jsut got done reading something with the world census thing, and doing a little research. America has the HIGHEST infant mortality rate of all the industrialized nations. Thats insane, and they say its because all other countries tend to have much higher rates of breastfeeding verses formula.

I think its unfair that hospitals and doctors dont provide education and support to moms. Every mom wants to provide the very best, and its not fair that commercial entities and cultural taboo's are allowed to steal the best from our children.

On top of all that, some states and counties are MAKING IT ILLEGAL to nurse in public.. WTF?!

It just bothers me that we cant provide the best.

People in saudi arabia have healthier babies than us for cripes sake. Theres something wrong here.
