He has been constipated the past two days. I have tried everything, and the poo is too big and too hard to come out of his butt. I am taking him to the ER. Can someone please tell me how they will get the poo out? Is this something worse than constipation? The poo is so hard and dry and impacted Im worried

Why do people give such dumb answers! Just to get the two points, people actually need help and you have to respond with those sarcastic, and stupid remarks!

Regarding your baby, he might get a glycerin suppository, a stool softener, or an enema. But he should be fine, don't worry about how they will do it, the important this is that they will, and he will feel a lot better after it.
Hurry up and take him, he must feel super uncomfortable, don't worry, they wont do anything to him that is not meant for an infant.
Good luck! God bless!

*edit*
You didn't mention his age, or what his diet is, but if he is already taking solids then try giving him a little bit of water each day, just like one oz. If his milk is only formula, then most likely that is whats causing the constipation, I know my nephew was constantly constipated, and it was because of that.
I breastfed my son, and thank God, he never went through that, but after I finish breastfeeding him (9 months) and began giving him formula, then he sometimes would have a hard time passing his stools.
But like I said, give him a little bit of water, that will help him pass his stools a little better.

Why have you not told your sons father? He has a RIGHT to know what's going on! If he loves his son he will make sure nothing happens to him. Also, if in the off chance the father already knows what's going on, he would surely put a stop to it knowing that YOU and the authorities know too.

the er will only use a serpository.you can do that yourself without taking him to the er. just cut a little sliver of soap and smooth it off with water and put in his butt. he will eventually poop it out but if he doesn't poop after that do it again. this method will save you lots of money by not having to take him to the er.

give him prune juice, it should reverse the dryness and hardness. If you don't have it right now, give him any type pf juice, don't water it down it all. Give him lots, it helps. I've been thru it already. It'll take a couple days though. But if you get prune juice, it works faster! I don't know how old he is, but limit his dairy intake until its resolved, thats why its happening. How old is he?

if you take him to the ER they will probably give him an enema....if you try to handle it at home you can coat your finger with vasaline and insert it in his bum hole and lube it .... i know this sounds gross but it works, you could also get an enema at the store and do that. poor guy and poor you!

They aren't going to physically remove it. They will just give him some pills to soften it up so he will be able to pass it..

Can you say "Suppository"?
Be sure that they are suitable for his age.
If that doesn't work, Enema.
