I am having trouble finding a way to babyproof the bottom of the stairs so the baby can't climb upstairs. My staircase has a full wall on one side, but is open on the other side on the first four steps. It seems to me a traditional baby gate wouldn't work since it needs anchored at all four corners, any suggestions?

Yesterday I asked about a rash that my daughters have ont their bottom. Well I just gave them a bath a noticed that the rash seems to be spreading. I have already made an appointment for Monday. But I was just wondering if any of you moms or anyone else for that matter knows away to stop the rash from spreading even more and stop any itching. I am using corn starch on their bottoms and that seems to help any stinging. But I was told that it can't be used all over.

Next week I'll be taking my baby to get his vaccine shots. What should I expect him to react after his shots? Will he be fussy? And can he get a fever from the shots? What were your experiences after you took your baby to get his/ her shots?

I have a 2 month old son who has been on zantac for reflux for 5 days now it does seem to have helped a little with his fussyness/gassyness/crying during and after feeding but I have noticed increased spitting up. He will only sleep on my shoulder or in my arms during the night , once I put him in the bassinet he moves all around and sleeps only for about an hour as I think he is uncomfortable. I went to the doctor today and he recomended adding rice cereal 1 scoop for every 1 ounce of formula. Has anyone had luck with this?

My son is 4 weeks old and I am having trouble breastfeeding. He doesn't seem to be getting enough from the breast as he falls asleep or pushes away after a few minutes and then cries when we move him. I have been pumping and only get one god pumping session a day and only pump roughly 5 ounces over the entire day. How do I increase my milk supply as we don't want to use formula?

I have tried all types of formula. Soy and regular. She was working on the soy good start for a short time and now she is breaking out in hives. We've cut her off everything else she was eating for almost a week now and she just gets the hives worse after her bottle.

One of my friends told me she had the same problem with her child and she ended up having to replace formula with Gatorade. Anyone else have to switch to Gatorade? I take her to the doctors Thursday but I would like an answer before then. In case it matters she is 4 months old.

He takes 2-3 oz and in an hour or two is hungry again .I have to feed him 2-3 times at night .He gets 23-25 oz a day, seems hapy and gains weight.Hi weights 15lb 1oz..My doc recommended to start on cereal so he will get more calories during the day and hopefully will not need to be fed at night. But I'm not sure that he is ready for this yet

I heard someone once say it is OK to stagger these two medicines so that you give tylenol, and then 2 hrs later Motrin and then 2 hrs later Tylenol again. This would be to reduce fever.

baby is learning to crawl & i've been thinking about babyproofing the house. Isn't it better for baby to learn he can't touch things or am i being naive? I know some people don't bother with stair guards etc . . . .

the act of seperating children from their parents at night and expecting them to stay sleeping makes little sence...why is it so many parents force this on their children while they themselves don't like sleeping alone? do you think the unnatural sleeping arangments we force on our infants may be a contributing factor in the USs alarming rate of SIDS?

as for the act of smothering a child at night...this is rare and in the cases it has happened it is mostly cause by drug and alcohol abuse....the same mental awareness that prevents us from rolling out of our beds at night prevent us form smothering our children

My husband is a pediatrician (resident). And he sees so many sick babies at his job in the hospital. So he is way too careful where we can go with the baby. So i didnt go shopping for 5 month now. He goes alone and buys too much stuff allways. LOL. But now we have to get some new clothes for her, and i would like to go too. There is allways a chance that she gets some bugs there, but until what age are we going to overprotect her? My hubbie says when she gets 6 month old, that is ok. I dont want to force it, because he really is worried, since the whole day he is taking care of babies who got some virus or something (usually when the parents went out with the child) and are seriously ill (like on vent, etc). What do you think?

Sometimes it looks like she is "thrashing about". It even looks like she is trying to sit up. She is asleep because I move her without waking her to see if I can find a more comfortable position for her. Has anyone experienced this? It is really starting to worry me. Could this be signs of teething? It seems her gums are bothering her lately. Maybe she is hungry and needs a diaper change? She sleeps through the night now.... She has been doing this "toss and turn" sleep pattern for over a week now. I will be putting a call into her pediatrician today...
