Sometimes it looks like she is "thrashing about". It even looks like she is trying to sit up. She is asleep because I move her without waking her to see if I can find a more comfortable position for her. Has anyone experienced this? It is really starting to worry me. Could this be signs of teething? It seems her gums are bothering her lately. Maybe she is hungry and needs a diaper change? She sleeps through the night now.... She has been doing this "toss and turn" sleep pattern for over a week now. I will be putting a call into her pediatrician today...

RELAX!

Have you ever tossed and turned in your sleep?
Has your husband?

That's what your baby is doing.

If she was seriously uncomfortable, she'd be squealing along with the tossing and turning.

My baby is the same age, doing the same thing--for longer now, he started at about 2 months old. It drives us mad because he's still sleeping in our room. We asked our doctor about it and he said it happens. Babies don't always lie still when they sleep. And when they start becoming more active, they'll actually "practice" motions and sounds in their sleep. My first child always slept in her own room, so we didn't know she was doing this until she was about this age and starting to roll over. (When she first started rolling over, she could roll from front to back, but couldn't roll back to front--we had to "save" her every night for a week.)

My son did that too around that age. He moved his head back and forth so much that he had a bald spot for a while. It's normal and will eventually stop. He is 9 months now and as still as can be while sleeping. (Bald spot filled in too!)

Perhaps she is counting sheep and the sheep are moving about making it hard for her to sleep.
Seriously at that age, it could be most anything. She may be too full from drinking before bedtime or uncomfortable from other matters.

she could be having lively dreams. try playing music for her when she sleeps. she could also subconciously be looking for you. just lay a hand on her back and "shhhhhhh" till she calms down. this is all i can offer. my son is a log when he sleeps, so im not sure what else can help.
