OK people.. i ALREADY talked to her doctor. She said if she werent ready to stand, she wouldnt do it. And i havent tried to get her to walk. And also the Dr. said, contrary to popular belief, she is not going to get bowlegged. All i wanted to know is if anyone else had a child who did the same thing at this age.

its totally normal, a reflex, sometimes they will even take steps.
no it will not cause bow legs. bowed legs are caused by genes or dietary problems and not by letting your baby use their legs

My daughter was the same way, when she was born I tried to football hold breastfeed her and she would kep kicking whatever was behind and try to move around. Since about a month I noticed she will stand on her feet. My doctor also said if she shouldn't do it then she wouldn't and she would cry. ONce and a while I let her stand on her legs one minute or less just in case. My daughter started sitting at 4 months! She is almost 5 months and gets up on her hands and knees, she doesn't quite know hot wo crawl so she just wiggles her butt in the air (so cute) She also rolls back and forth one way only, so she can roll across an entire room in a matter of minutes. Every baby is different. The concern is bow legs, but as long as she is not on her legs too long she should be fine.

My son loved to stand as a baby and I also was very concerned that he would get bowleg because of it...I also talked to my doctor about him standing a a early age. The told me if he likes to stand let him do it. He is now 7 months old almost 8 months and there is nothing wrong w/ his legs..He crawled at 6 months and started pulling himself up at 6 1/2 months...Good Luck!! I saw if she likes to stand go ahead...Just be prepared to have your arms be tired..

Wow! Some interesting answers here.
You are not going to bow the babies legs. If the babies legs weren't okay to support the baby, the baby wouldn't be standing.

My girl was the same way that early. She was always very alert and active. She wanted up. She is now 15 mos with beautiful legs and is running all over the house.
This is just the beggining of the repititions. Whenever your baby learns a new trick (standing, clapping, squealing, whatever) she will want to do it constantly. Have fun!

I'm pretty sure it's normal. My sister-in-law was a cheerleader so she thought it was the cutest thing when her two could stand in her hand at only a few months (this is a stunt called a cupee or an awesome in cheer) Jr and Angel aren't bow legged and walked quite early. Is she holding herself up on your fingers or is she just using them for balance? If she's just balancing, she may be one of those that walk first. You'll have to teach her to crawl later (some kind of developemental thing) but it shouldn't harm her.

My son did the same thing. He is 8 months old now and he can pull himself up on things and stand. Also when he is standing up and holding on to my fingers he'll let go and stand by himself for about 10 seconds. But this is normal, once babies get a feel for standing it's all they want to do. Although now that my son crawls he doesn't want to stand as much because he can get around on his own.

I agree! By letting her stand at this early of an age it will increase the changes of her being bow legged. Maybe you should teach her how to crawl, roll over or just let her play with toys. If I were you no matter how cute it is I would quit letting her stand for a few more months. It's for her own good. She's not going to be able to walk until she is at least 9 months. Babies bones aren't strong enough at 3 months to walk.

My daughter is 4 months old nearly and she's the same. She can't stand on her own yet but she puts pressure down on her legs if we hold her in the standing position. She also makes walking motions with her legs when we do this. It looks pretty cute! Don't worry too much about it, babies develop at their own pace and if your doc has said there is nothing to worry about then just sit back and enjoy watching her develop.

My daughter did the same thing, she is now six months loves to stand, or be in her jumper. Also she will when she wants to get to something take a couple of steps. i wouldn't worry esp. since your doctor said it was fine. My friends and family are all amazed at my little one and support me in the fact since i know she likes to stand I let her and find toys or things that help her. She now does plenty of tummy time and is showing signs that she will be crawling. So I wish you the best and take lots of pics they look so cute standing. Even if it is with help.

Yes, it's normal and isn't it fun? My 3 loved doing that and being gently bounced and making great faces. I think it is more a delightful interaction game with Mommy (or better yet, Daddy lol) than it is a desire to walk. The first real ability to get somewhere at will ordinarily comes in a few more months with crawling. Unfortunately, they like the independence of exploring and it's hard to stay ahead of them covering sockets and so on. Two of mine crawled backwards first, which made mechanical sense but still struck us as funny.

It's wonderful to watch each new ability evolve, but I preferred their talking to their walking!

Good luck and Enjoy!!!
