YES, it helped me a lot. I was back to my pre-pregnancy size and weight at 6 months and below that at 12 months. When I stopped breastfeeding at 12 months, I did gain a little of the weight back, but not too much.

I lost most of my baby weight within 6 months from nursing. You will still need to have a good balanced diet not only for the benefit of your baby (which is why you should breastfeed, not to lose weight). Breastfeeding alone will not help you lose the weight of two pregnancies.

Breastfeeding uses a lot of calories and help the uterus shrink back down to size, it isn't a miracle diet though. Breastfeed for your baby's health and yours (there are other reasons it is good for you) and stop if you have to due to medicine etc. Most women notice the most dramatic change at six months (and then you start feeding the baby solid food so the breastfeeding starts to lessen).

Breastfeeding helps immediately. It helps the uterus contract back to normal and it's good for you and the baby. I have 2 boys. I breastfed my first son for 3 months. I wear size 0 and was back in my clothes in 2 weeks. I gained 20 pounds with this pregnancy. My second son I breastfed for 18 months. He never took a bottle. It took me 2 months to get back in my clothes. I gained 32 pounds in this pregnancy. Everyone is different and everyone has a different metabolism. I also continued taking my prenatal vitamins while breastfeeding.

"eventually" may never happen. Every women is different. Breastfeeding didn't help me lose weight at all. Ultimately, it's how much you eat and your activity level.

I only breastfed my kids for about 3 months, so maybe if you do it longer it`ll help, but I haven`t noticed it on myself at all.
I think they just say that, to make you nurse longer....lol

You will burn double the calories if you breastfeed so as long as you don't start eating twice as much you will see results right away.
