He takes 2-3 oz and in an hour or two is hungry again .I have to feed him 2-3 times at night .He gets 23-25 oz a day, seems hapy and gains weight.Hi weights 15lb 1oz..My doc recommended to start on cereal so he will get more calories during the day and hopefully will not need to be fed at night. But I'm not sure that he is ready for this yet

Hi, my eldest daughter was the same. Once of the breast she never took more than 4oz at a time even at 12 months. At 4 months she took 2-3oz. If she took more we used to hold our breath incase she got distracted!

I had to suplement her milk with lots of yoghurt and cheesey dinners as she never took the 20oz recomended and she was only 17lbs at 12months! she worried me sick.

It was much better once on solids. I reckon she only took a few oz of breast milk too because she needed feeding every 2 hours and i was exhausted so went to the bottle.

My second daughter took 2, 8 oz bottles back to back at the same age, so dont beat yourself up, its just the way he is.

My eldest is 14 and a slinky size 6 with a figure to die for and an appetite like a horse so it all works out in the end. My youngest drank bottles like nothing on earth and eats like a pig and she is tiny also, so it shows that they will eat when they want. Its just so inconvenient at 3am isnt it LOL

Good luck and chill x
PS the problem with adding cereal too early is they want their milk even less.

My 4 month old eats 5-6 ounces every 3 to 4 hours along with a few tablespoons of rice cereal per day. Maybe you could try feeding your son more at each feeding and feeding every 3-4 hours instead of every 1-2. He should stay full longer this way.

What i would suggest is introducing a spoon to ur son and see how he reacts. Let him play with it for a few days and see what he does when u pu it towards his mouth after that. My son loved cereal and was on stage 1 foods at 4 months along with 8 oz every 4 hours. Try when hes very hungry he is more likely to except the spoon then. Good luck

At that age mine took between 4 and 6 ounces per feeding, every 4 hours, so that does sound a little much. She may want the sucking as much as the actual milk, so try just giving her, say, 5 ounces and then a pacifier if she fusses and see if it helps her bellyache.

My 12 month old baby drinks no more than 3 oz maximum, every 2 hours. At night I feed her 2-3 times too :)

I started my girl on solids at 4 months. Rice cereal from a spoon at first and then once we got the motions down, we moved on to stage 1 foods. When she was 4 mos old, she would have screamed her head off if all she got was 2-3oz of formula! Is he pushing the bottle away after 2-3oz or is that all you offer? It does sound like he's ready for something more. Unless there are allergy risks, I'd move on.

In my case I would say yes because my son did the same thing with milk, but of course not every baby is the same.My doctor told me to offer him milk every two hours, and the cereal came about 9 months for him.He is too young and he will wake up at night for a lil while.Good Luck.

That is a question you will have to ask your pediatrician. But in my opinion NO, that sounds way wrong. My son is 3 months and drinks 7-8 ounces at a time.

I think it is best to wait until 6 months to start cereal if possible. Waiting to start these foods, helps make it easier to introduce them more slowly so you don't put your child at an increased risk of allergies. It is ok to start between 4 to 6 months, but I have heard that it is better to wait until 6 months unless your child is obviously not satisfied with milk alone anymore. He will start showing interest in table foods when he is ready.
