Newborn & Baby - February 2007

I went to the doctor and the hospital with her and the doctor's never said anything was wrong. The hospital kept her for 5 days and ran a series of tests on her concluding that she only has colic. Apart from the colic I still do worry alot about her. Everytime the bubbling happens in her side she cries in discomfort/pain. It really worries me and I wonder if it is a serious condition. She also passes wind constantly throughout the day and night. The doctors say she is fine, but I still feel as if they are overlooking something.
She does not have a sunken mole, she is not dehydrated. Correct me if I'm wrong, but for some reason i think it is a sign of gas. This constant bubbling also keeps her up all night every night fussing. Please answer, I really do not know which direction to turn with her and my concerns.
Thank you so much for your answer.

Do any of you ladies have any maternity clothes that you dont need or dont want? I will be willing to pay for them. I live in Maryland. Or can any ladies give me some advise on where I could go to get some that does not cost alot. Meaning over $30 for a shirt or bottom. Thanks in advance

There is a married couple that my husband and I have known for a long time. We went to visit them at their home and meet their first baby who is 2 months old.

They spoil him a lot, which I totally understand. (They say you can never "spoil" a newborn).

However, she took us on a tour of the nursery and the crib (where he sleeps) was FILLED with stuff. The changing pad, boxes to keep the wipes and diapers were in one half, and he slept in the other half. This made me very nervous.

THEN, I saw that in the 1/2 of the crib that he slept in there were THREE very fluffy, very loose, very big blankets. I asked my friend if those blankets were in there when he sleeps, and she said Yes, because he gets cold.

I wanted to scream, but I held my cool and just nodded my head. Do you think that I should send her an email with some information on SIDS? Should I just let it go? Im really worried that the baby is in danger, but I dont want to overstep my boundaries.

HELP!

she is six weeks old and is hard to keep content more than 30 minutes during the day! she sleeps awesome at night, once she finishes crying about 1-2 hours because she's so tired and won't go to sleep! she eats good, we tried putting her on soy formula because we thought maybe it was stomach issues, she has had one can of that and doesn't seem any different. she won't really take a pacifier. she wants to suck on her hands a lot but isn't cordinated yet to keep them in her mouth. i'm thinking about starting some cereal. she's using the bathroom pretty good too. is it possible for a baby to have colic in just the day time?

My daughter used to be very good at entertaining herself while I get stuff done around the house, but now she has gotten so attached to me that she either has to be held by me or I have to be right next to her and entertain her constantly. I love that she likes to spend time with me, but I can't get anything done. How do I help her to start entertaining herself again?

My son is 1 week old and starting yesterday he has been coughing here and there. He coughed a couple times when he was sleeping and then I noticed him coughing a couple times today when I was feeding him. Also, he hasn't been sleeping at all.. going 6 hours periods without sleep and not really eating much. Is this a cold? something more then that? or is this normal for a newborn??

i'm concerned that my 2 month daughter has coup or pertussis and the doctor said its just a cold but shes been coughing up a storm for a week and a half and shes due for her DTAP shots but if she is going to get her pertussis shot and she has that...wouldnt that make her even more sick? i also wanted the doctor to run tests on her but she kept saying how she can only catch it if someone has it and its not like shes been confined in the house all day she is out and about with other sick babies at stores and such. she said to just wait it out and see. i was like...the hell??? i didnst know what to do after that...should i just cancel the appt...or seriously demand the doctor to please run the test to see if she has pertussis or not...it doesnt hurt no one just to be on the safe side does it???

Please don't consider me a bad parent...my seven week old is very, very fussy. Some might call it colic, but honestly she sometimes does her bored/cranky cry, and I can easily tell the difference between this and a pain cry. Some days she will cry her cranky cry nomatter what I do....I'll swaddle her, rock her, dance with her, put her in a sling/baby bjorn, put her in her bouncy seat, drive her around the block, run the vacuum/hairdryer for white noise....and nothing seems to work. I can't even get her bottles made or grab something to eat. Now this isn't every day, but it happens frequently. Can I let her cry for a bit? I had to today to make her bottles up, and I went back to carry her around in about 10 minutes and she fell fast asleep.
I've always believed you can NOT spoil a baby this young, but then I never had one that could keep this up all day at times. I am not sure how to handle it....as I said, she's not in pain, eats well, sleeps well at night..what to do?
