My son is 1 week old and starting yesterday he has been coughing here and there. He coughed a couple times when he was sleeping and then I noticed him coughing a couple times today when I was feeding him. Also, he hasn't been sleeping at all.. going 6 hours periods without sleep and not really eating much. Is this a cold? something more then that? or is this normal for a newborn??

Honestly I wouldn't take any chances-I'd call your doctor, but I have heard that that was normal for newborns to cough somewhat because they are just clearing their little lungs from all of the "stuff" they've been swimming around in for the past 9 months. I seem to remember my 2 little ones doing a little of the same as newborns. Bottom line thought please still don't hesitate and call your doctor immediately with any concerns. Good luck and congratulations to you.

Your son is very young, I wouldn't be wasting time asking a question to a bunch of strangers, call your doctor. Don't mess around when it comes to a child.

Bring your baby to doc straight away if you had notice that he had not feeding well. As yours is just a newborn, bring him to doc now.
