You can start now. Try using stage one fruits and veggies. Applesauce is a good starter and so is pears. Peaches tend to be a bit harsh at first.

Starting babies on foods other than breast milk or formula should not be done too soon, as they can develop allergies if the body is not ready. However, if your baby is not satisfied with breast milk / formula then you should consult your pediatrician about starting him on cereal. The general progression is this: Rice Cereal thinned down with formula or breast milk. Try for one week, if tolerated, then you can add the baby oatmeal, (each addition should be for at least one week in order to watch for allergies). Then mixed cereal; these are followed by sweet potatoes, and then the other orange vegies; then the green vegies; then light meats, beef last, then fruits and fun stuff. If you add these early then who is going to want meat and spinach and stuff like that? Always watch for signs of allergies, which could be anything from upset tummy, to hives, to serious diaper rash. Discuss the possibilities with your Dr. Good luck, and enjoy your baby, he won't be little for long!
Always stay away from honey for the first 18-24 months!! This can cause an infant serious illness. (Botulism spores)

He can start now if you want. Start w/rice cereal, it's good for teaching them how to eat, just mix it w/a little warm water or formula. I wouldn't use juice yet because it can give babies gas. After her gets good at eating the cereal you can start the jarred stuff. I always start w/sweet potatoes and don't give him anything different for about a week or so per new food. That way you can catch any allergies he may have and know exactly what caused it.

Now if you think he's ready. I started my son around 4 months on babyfood. If you go to the gerber website it will show you what to start your baby on first. I think supported sitters are step one, when they can sit on their own is step 2, etc. Buy one or two jars of something like pears and have him give it a try. You can tell by his mouth movement if he's ready. If he keeps pushing it out give it a few weeks and try it again.

Most people start there children around 4-6mths .. It also depends on your child if they are ready for something else besides milk, if they are'nt satisfied with the milk then try bringing other food in to there diet. If you have a look at some of the baby cans they should say on it from what age is suitable. I started my daughter around 3mths so i think your baby will be fine

Your baby may be ready if he:
Sits with support and has good head control, and
Has doubled his birth weight and weighs at least 13 pounds, and
Continues to be hungry after 8 to 10 breastfeedings, or drinks 32 oz. of formula in a day

I believe the newer doctors say at 1 year of age. They say the digestive tract is not developed enough for fruits and vegetables until then..

I started mine at four months. Just give him one kind at a time so you know if he has an allergic reaction to one of them.

you can start now. try giving him pureed vegetables, just make sure you sift it so that the fibers that may cause choking will be removed. my child started with pureed pumpkin & potatoes which we made. you can also try looking in stores for baby foods suited for his age. one tip, don't give him eggs until he is 1 year old.
