It seems that everyone's response is to take the baby to the doctor. There are some things that are just not necessary to go to the doctor for. If your baby gets a cold do you taker her/him to the doctor? Unless there is a high fever or a cough I just don't think its necessary. Sleep habits...your doctor is going to say whateveryone else says...gas, teeth, growing etc. I just think its funny how some people's answers are always "go to the doctor"

I'm expecting my second baby this summer and plan to be home at least one year or more. My first baby will be 2 when the second arrives.

I was thinking of putting baby #1 in daycare at least part-time for a several different reasons.

a) I can have some alone time with baby #2
b) Baby #1 can socialize, play and learn with others her same age
c) Baby #1 will have her own little "life" and maybe not be jealous of her newborn sibling.

My husband thinks it's not a good idea since there's nothing better than being at home with "mommy". I tend to disagree but so see his point of view that Baby #1 would probably rather be with me than at daycare. But daycare would be for her own good; she just wouldn't know it.

Thoughts?

APGAR scores not available. No post-natal difficulties until one month of age when she developed (what sounds like Furbaugh condition) and was admitted to the hospital. No CNS infection was found. She has never had difficulty with feeding or feeding schedules.

I live in an apartment complex and my 9 mth old son just started screaming for the fun of it. I am not sure whether I should try and get him to be a little quieter (or is there really any point since he is so young) or just let him belt out his new vocal abilities! Do you think other tenants would complain? He goes to bed at 7 pm and gets up at 7 am so he only yells during the day.

I'm planning to put my baby (when it arrives) in washable nappies. All the waterproof outer pants I've seen are lined with polyurethane.

Is this a safe substance? Does anyone know whether it's toxic? As well as environmental and cost reasons, I'm not keen to envelope my tot's genitals in all the nasty chemicals that go into disposable nappies, but would like to feel sure that polyurethane is okay.

He has always wanted it since birth. When he is sleepy or in the carseat in town he has to have it. But I have to hold it in so he can suck it. I have tried MaM, nook, and the evenflo types, now he is taking the Playtex Ortho-Pro, it is the best for their developing gums and he sucks them all the same. Is he lazy or just spoiled. Or is he too young to be able to hold a good sucktion. He doesnt want it at night or any thing just during the day for naps and in the carseat.?

My nephew turned 10 months old on Dec. 20th. He doesn't crawl, reach for things, and can't even hold his own bottle. He doesn't say any words yet, either. He doesn't reach for toys or food or anything, just holds his arms up about half way and constantly moves his hands in an up and down motion. If you put him on his tummy to get him to try to crawl, his arms and legs go straight out and he screams. He just sits there with his mouth hanging open and drools. He can barely sit up on his own, too. I want to know what your babies are doing at this age. I really think something is wrong with him and I'm worried.

I recently looked at tooth whitening strips and the packaging warned against using while pregnant or breastfeeding. I recently considered buying a moisturizer with self tanners but there was no information regarding safety of the product. Logically, I thought if it's unsafe to put whitening agents on your teeth, it might be unsafe to put anything unnatural on your skin.

I didn't purchase the product, but would consider it if it's safe.
I am awaiting a response from the manufacturer, but if they want to sell a product, they would choose studies in their favor. What are your thoughts?
Thanks.

My daughter is usually so content but the past 2 weeks have been a nightmare. Everytime that she needs to poop she screams like someone is murdering her. I've tried massaging the tummy, moving her legs around, rubbing her back, changing posiions, cradling her close, talking/singing to her, giving he apple prune juice during the day, and more I'm sure. When she is able to poop finally (It has taken up to 3 days - then I have given her a suppository) it is like a hunter/army green color. I am breast feeding but not producing enough so I am also feeding her formula about 50% of the time. We have went from Similac advanced regular to good start supreme + DHA and ARA, to Enfamil Lactose free (that I tried for a day but she wouldn't take it), and now I am trying smilac soy formula. I am at a loss. There has to be a solution to her problem and my heart breaks everytime she gets like that. If you know what it could be or have any advice what I could try I would really appreciate it.

I am nearly 6 mths pregnant and have been thinking seriously about having a homebirth. It is my first baby and my husband isn't really for it. My midwife commented that it is usual for a first timer to have the baby in hospital but I have read so many positive homebirth stories - also from first timers. Can anyone out there offer me some support? Did you have your first baby at home and was it a good experience?
