Does anyone know (or know where I can do research) how much the parent's age or progression of development affects their child(ren)'s? For example, if I began walking at 9 mos (and my husband), will our son walk earlier or later? Or does that not have any influence on his development? Thanks!

My baby girl is 12 days old now. I had her by c-section due to some complications. Since my husband and I have brought her home my 2 Year old son is not listening at all.....he is getting into things that he would of never done before over and over again no matter how many times you tell him NO! He does absolutely anything to try and wake her up.....Is this normal?? Any suggestions on how to help him adapt?

My baby who is now almost 3 weeks old. Everytime I feed her. When I burp her she spits up. Just a little bit. But sometimes the spitup just comes out of her nose(at least once a day) when she spits up though it comes out of the nose daily. Is this normal? Just wondering if other mothers have this happen to them. Worried because older son had a cleft palate?

Ok, this might be a little long. Here goes:

My FIL wants to keep my 4 month old son overnight. My husband is basically trying to badger me into doing it. My problem is this. This man has seen his grandson maybe 3 times since he was born. I also have a 6 year old son, who has yet to spend the night with FIL(grandpa). He has been to our house maybe 10 times since we've been married, which is going on 4 years. He wants us to always bring the kids to him or come to his house if we want to see him. I don't like the idea of dropping my son off with basically a total stranger(to him). But, I'm trying to find a way to say NO without sounding like a total b*tch. Any help?

How many of you have tried teething tablets? Do they work better than Orajel? I have 4.5 month old who is teething pretty badly and it seems to be getting worse the passed couple of days. The Orajel seems to be wearing off before it is time to apply more. Also, has anyone's child(ren) gotten their top teeth before the bottom? His top gums seem to be much more tender/inflammed than the bottom.

some of you may not like this and you may even report me. but if you do that just proves that you imature and heartless.
A really good friend of mine had a baby in june and he has been battling congestive heart failure and a problem with one of the valves in his heart since birth. the doctors were trying to hold off on surgury hoping he would gain some wait and become stronger.
He was rushed back to the hospital about a week ago gasping for air. the doctors say they have to operate or he'll die and he may die during surgery. the also say the don't know how there going to go about with the surgery. he is 3 months old and weighs 9 pounds. his surgery is scheduled for this week could anybody out there who believes in the power of prayer please say one for this baby. if you do not believe then just close the question and go on with your day.

My son is seven months old. As many parents know, at this age they are really curious about everything and figuring out how to do many things. He can crawl, sit up, and pull himself up on to things. I'm really proud of him but here's the deal. No matter how close to him I am, he still falls and knocks his head. We have linoleum all around our house...with a few area rugs here and there. When he plays I put him in the living room with a comforter and an area rug underneath--so he doesn't hit his head too hard. Lately he's hit his head pretty much everyday, I don't know what to do! Am I supposed to not let him roam and develop? Am I supposed to hover over him every time he plays? He's a very active and big boy (he doesn't fit in the Pack n Play anymore) so I don't want to make it so he can't play around. Does anyone know of a way I could stop him from falling--or hitting his head? Thank you for your responses!

My son is almost 4 months old and I'd like to get an entertainment item that he can sit in and that travels well. We have a swing which is fairly portable. But I've been thinking about getting the Fisher Price Take Along Hop n Pop, or an exersaucer. Which products do you all suggest?

I have a 17 week old son who, as yet, isn't weaned, nor any immediate plans to do so - he just doesn't show any of 'the signs'. However, without passing any judgements, I'd be really interested to know...
When did you wean your baby
Why did you wean them when you did?
What foods did you first try them on?
How was it?
I know there can be a great deal of conflicting views with regards to this issue - so I'd be really interested to hear REAL peoples views (not magazines, books, health professionals etc)

My newborn boy came out fine, was delivered through a C section but the gynae used a forcep to get the head out first then then pull the body out. I noticed 4 red patches 1 was on the crown of his head, 1 on the back of his neck&head, 1 on his right eyelid and 1 in between his 2 eyes. The last red patch lightened up and dissappeared but the others still remained. The one on his crown is getting scaly, crusty and flakes are forming in that patchy red area. The same is happening with the red patch on his eyelid.

The redness on the back of his neck & head has develped a white oval/circular patch which got lighter & lighter and then loss of hair occured within the white patch and this white patch is found within the large red patch. Anybody got any clues as to what is going on here

I am breastfeeding my 7 month old daughter and I have a hellious cold. Runny, stuffy, nose, sneezing, coughing, sinus pressure so bad that my teeth hurt.

I know that I can't take Sudifed (Decongestants) and stuff like that because it dries up mucous membranes. I also know that I can't take Nyquil and things of that nature. But is their anything that I can take? Regular tyenol isn't touching the pressure headache or the other multiple symptoms. Please help I am really uncomfortable and tired and don't want to harm my milk production or my daughter.

Thank you in advance.

****P.S **** IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING SMART TO SAY KEEP IT TO YOURSELF. IT IS 7 AM AND THE DR WON'T PRESCRIBE ANYTHING FOR A COLD. HENCE IT IS A VIRUS AND NOT A BACTERIA.
