PLEASE don't make your child go through life with a weird name.

Boys are hard because unique names for boys end up popular for girls later. Just think Terry, Stacey, Tracy, Kelly, and many more started out as boy's names and now Aidan, Avery, and Taylor are going to girls too- I went for strong names that would sound professional when they got older even though they are common: Richard Alexander and Zachary James. Go to this site and it will tell you the 1000 most popular names in America and if you enter a name tell you its ranking. Then you can avoid or aim for whatever it is you want: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/

I think Ocean would sound more feminine

I like Darion or Tye for an unusual name. I like Xander (Zander) too; it is a nickname for Alexander but sounds good on its own. Just remember to try to picture your baby as an adult. Is that a name that would serve him well? I don't want to be rude but I don't see Ocean as president of some great company or Dr. Ocean ------. Good luck and congrats.

It's really neat that you wanna go off the beaten path and have a unusual name for your son but Ocean isn't one that would do any good for him. Remember to think about when he goes to apply for a job and stuff like that. He will be a man one day . But as far as unusual names I'm all for it, my sons name is Kemani so that's a little different. Have you tried going to websites looking for a name? Or what you could do is think of something you and your partner enjoy and think of names that pertain to that . Or it could just be the spelling that you can look at too. A simple nae but put your own twist to it. But here are a few...........Jacobi, Malaki, Malik, Shayne, Shine, Toby, Jayden, Joni, Six...........Just some ideas.

Ocean is really girly, it's nice but think how the child will feel growing up with a funny name, I went to school with a girl called Sunshine and she was TORTURED for it. I am not really into strange names so can't offer you anything other than Maximus or biblical ones like Elijah, Noah, Cain, Isaac, Esaw. Am not christian or religious but I love the name Noah

I had a friend in HS that was named Usmail because that phrase was on all the letter his father sent from prison (US Mail by the way if you didnt get it)you know what boys would do to to a boy named ocean. sometimes parents dont realize the damage they do kids by naming them wierd as names.

Anselm, one of my favorites, from the Bishop Orders His Tomb at St Praxed's, by Robert Browning.

Is Anselm keeping back?

Anselm is also the name of the man who is known as the father of scholasticism.

Ocean isn't a name for a human being.

Try finding a name that isn't weird or ugly, but not many people use.
