I only took about 3 or 4 painkillers after I came home from the hospital(4 days after my csection). I stopped bleeding heavily after about 3 or 4 days(after I came home) and I stopped bleeding all together in about 1.5 weeks.
However, I have a really high pain tolerance.
This question reminded me just how odd it is to wake up and find a nurse stareing at your hooha at 3 in the morning, lol.

Bleeding stopped in a week. I took prescribed painkiller during my stay at the hospital and over the counter pain killer for a week at home. just felt a slight pull every time i got up from sleeping but did not lift anything other than the baby and avoided climbing stairs.

could be a month...varies....if you go ahead and get on bc pills...it will stop..mine was always about 6 weeks...painkillers? I would have no idea...i never took any pain medicine during or after both of my sections...did not even use the morphine drip ...I made them take it off. Just took some tylenol for headaches after being up for so long during labor....good luck, stop taking the medice and get some aleve...its for muscle aches and basically that is what it is...If you are breastfeeding, you really don't need the meds....God Bless

I had a C-section back in May. It sucked! I had an infection in my incision so it took a while for me to get off of pain killers. Maybe about 3-4 weeks or so. I stopped bleeding after about 5 weeks. It's hard to get around at first and things will finally be back to normal but until then just relax as much as you can. Things will get better!

Hi there it usually takes 6 to 8 weeks for the bleeding to stop and the pain usually stops after 2 to 3 weeks after the secion but you will still feel twinges of pain there even months after if you are doing anything strenuous.

I bled for a couple of weeks but it was only like a light period. The painkillers didn't work for me but good old ibuprofen did (it's safe for breastfeeding, too). I found that the more i got up and moved around the less it hurt and I was well enough to go to the indoor track by five post operation. I walked as slow as a turtle at first but it helped.

how long has it been? i had a c section and by the time i left the hospital two days later i was not bleeding and was not in much pain at all. im sure it affects everyone differently so you should be going to the doctor a week after your c section and just let him/her know how youre feeling and go from there, good luck and congratulations on your new baby.

you bleed for about a month or 6 weeks and i didn't take pain pills after i went home. it was maybe 4 days, but everyone is different. my c-section was planned so there was no labor. from what I'm told pain lasts longer if all those muscles were used in contractions and such. if you nurse exclusively you get a break from periods. my son is 7 months and still no period! yay! congrats on the babe, get well soon.

It took a little over 2 1/2 weeks for my bleeding to stop completely. The pain lasted a little bit longer, but I tend to be a slow healer, not to mention the pregnancy caused a herniated umbilicus - so my abdominal pain was extended.
