Hey, I am a 13 year old boy and my bro is 5. I like him a lot and think he is cute. We live in an apartment and share a room. We sit on the floor and play playstation like all day on the weekends lol and I let him sit on my lap. I like it because he's cute and he sometimes wraps his arms around my neck. Is this OK for us to do this, i am not gay or anything and I have a girlfriend but I just think my bro is cute :P

He also looks up to me and trusts me. If he wets the bed or has an accident or something i am the first one to know and he doesn't want our parents knowing. Is this normal that he asks for my help? I always help him out when something like that happends.

Thanks

I am a 13 year old boy and my bro is 5. Our parents tell him to go to the toilet before sleeping and 50 percent of the time he does. We live in a small apartment and share a room. At night time i just hang out on my ps3 and play online games etc and he plays his ps2. When he gets tired he turns his off and sits next to me or on my lap, this is when he is getting tired.
Some times he moves around a bit and shows signs of needing to pee and I tell him to go but he then says he doesn't need to.
Eventually he falls asleep on my lap usually and i just leave him there while i play my ps3. When I go to sleep (usually pretty late everyones asleep) I wake him up and tell him to go to the toilet. He usually says no but if he says he wants to he wants me to take him into the bathroom because he is scared, is this OK to do?if he doesn't go he wakes up askin me to take him to the toilet because he is scared. If he wets the bed or has an accident i get him changed how cn i get him to pee before bed

My son has been having anger and self esteem issues. He's started in a new school and I seperated from the man he came to know as his dad. So he's had some problems recently. His teachers have brought to my attention that hes having major problems focusing and doing his work. My fiance thinks my son needs Ritalin and that it would calm him down enough to concentrate and focus.

I need some opinions on this.... I'm scared of altering his personality, does Ritalin do that? I dont want to be dependent on medication and never be ok without it.

Please give me some input, he doesnt have a pediatrician yet so I don't know who else to ask.

Does anyone say "no" to kids when they are selling things for the school? I hate to say no to these things but I just spent $100 for crap I don't even want. wrapping paper, candy, a coupon book, pizza kits and a magazine subscription. my sisters 3 kids got me, and my neighbors 3 kids got me. both families let all 3 kids ask me!

Me and sister are in a great debate as to this, i believe they should always , no matter what be respectful to an adult.. and she believes that a adult should have to prove themselves to the child... the reasoning for this question is how her kids act torwards adults, they mouth back and say very disrespectful things to most people older then them.. ie teachers strangers family members.

One of my 3 sons turned 9 May just gone and he's becoming all of a sudden fascinated in drawing 'fake tattoos' with skulls, etc all over his arms, and he says he can't wait until he gets a real tattoo & piercings and he has decided he wants to become a guitarist and eventually play in a rock band when he gets older.
His grandfather(who is a music teacher) gave him a second hand small accoustic guitar and now my son's always practising on it(which I don't mind him having as a hobby), but do any other parents have young children with similar interests? Is this normal for a 9 year old?

How can i help my 3rd grader with homework when she is so slow? she had dyslexia (especially with numbers), and maybe i think she shows symptoms of adhd, its so hard for her to pay attention. it took her 4 minutes to do theis problem: 68+41= ? and i even guided her thru every step (okay, what is 8+1?) and it takes her a minute to do simple things like 3+4! she gets alll sweaty and stares at the floor when i try to help her and it gets me really frustrated, but i dont want to give her medication for her problems. that is just sad (to give kids Rit-A-Lin and such which). i feel like yelling and throwing the book but its so hard! pLUS THE PAPER ALWAYS SEEMS TO RIP, OR THE PENCIL BREAK WITH HER. no one can help her (not dad, aunty, grandma, 4th grade OR 9th grade sister). we all get frustrated and it takes her hours to finish one page of math!what should i do? HELP!

How to motivate her to become successful in life? How to motivate her to be practical in life?

I just found out by watching the news that there are 2 elemantry schools here that have had reported cases of MRSA. I think the school district should've sent a letter home to all parents about this. I shouldn't have to hear about it on the news. I constantly remind my daughter to wash her hands after using the bathroom and throughout the day so she doesn't get sick. Do you think the school district should've reported the cases to the parents?

I recently attempted to take my son off of all stimulants and try a non-stimulant. It was a rough month and a half at home and at school for him. I've had to switch to a stimulant again. It's a new one called Vyvanse. Any one know it? Please don't answer this if you have nothing nice to say about the method of treatment we use for our children or ourselves.

I also have a chat room and boards for any one interested in support. I tolerate no judgeing people for wethods of treatments there wether it's with medicine or diet or anything.

For information on it please e-mail me. I am looking for a co-mod to join me. Thanks

My 5 year old daughter has in the last month or two become so snotty and rude, she is constantly talking back and not listening. I dont even know how to describe how bad it gets, but i'm a very laid back single mother and not much bothers me but when she acts like this ( which is all the time) i dont even want to be near her, it upsets me so much. I know it's part of a 5 year old, but how do i get her to realize she needs to be more polite and listen and use her manners at home?
thank you.

My son is non confrontational and this child is aggressive pushing tripping etc. The mother is actually the leader of my son's tiger den and from what I have seen has no clue how to handle her son, which makes you wonder how exactly she became the leader. My instinct is to tell the mom to talk to her son, but I don't know if that will work. I don't want my son to be the victim of an abusive unruly child and suffer from low self esteem etc. I have told my son that it is not his fault and to tell the boy to leave him alone, but as of yet it hasn't worked.

My nine year old can not read or remember how to spell little words like as and on. She also having major problems with complicated sorting that other children younger then her can do. The school says it is because she is not on medication for her ADHD. She has a younger sister who has ADHD and is not on medication and she is doing well in school. Can ADHD cause all her problems or is there something else going on.

I have been struggling with this decision. I work 40 hours a week, have a 5 year old son and a husband, and I go to school 15 hours a week at night. I never see my family and I don't really ever have time to study during the week so my weekends are spent doing that. I am thinking about quitting my job. If I quit my job, I'd go to school while my son is in school during the day. My husband earns enough money for us to live comfortably, just not expensively. What would you do?

i find that kids these days are really big built for their age.

my youngger sis is 12, and she's tall for her age. im 16 and really petite for my age.

a few years ago, she brought her friends over. i thought " aww... they're so cute"

and today, she brought her friends over. i thought they were little tots cause they're only 12. but i saw them and i was so shocked.... they are 12 and and had the looks of a 15 year old. from height, weight and everthing.

out of intrest, my teacher had this discussion with me about this afew days ago and she said that kids are growing like monsters these days.

i mean, what do they eat???
are kids in your area growing at that rate too?
if they are, i guess its normal
