Well, after inflation and taking our currently weak economy, I would say that the value of said tooth to be equal to a 2007 Chevy Malibu. If she endured an unusual amount of pain in losing the tooth then I would upgrade the value to a 2007 Chevy Corvette.

That being said, these items are hard to stuff under the pillow so I would suggest a gift certificate to her favorite store where she may pick her gift, and a signed letter from the tooth fairy congratulating her on her first.

My kids got a present for the very first tooth, and then every tooth after a Sacajawea dollar (not sure if I spelled that right, but it is the golden dollar coin so that it is more special than just a regular dollar bill). For my daughter's present, she got a CD she had really been wanting, and my son got a new book about something he really liked (of course, these presents had been picked out and hidden before the big day; since you don't have much time I'd just give a $5 bill). They had been told that the special present was only for the first tooth since that one you have to be the most brave. Oh, yea, and a note congratulating them.

I hear that for a first tooth these days, the going rate is £1, accompanied by a special letter from the tooth fairy :-)

One dollar at least. Make sure the Tooth Fairy leaves a note behind ... you can find one here. Too cute:

Billy Bear 4 Kids is a great website also for other letters: Santa, Easter Bunny .. etc. IF you don't want to download his software then just type one out on the computer with some really cute clipart.

We choose to leave our son coupons for things the wanted instead....example: This coupon is good for one toy of your choice. There ya go.

My tooth fairy OK's me to give $1 tied in a bow for every tooth! Although I slipped one night when my son lost his first moler and I had accidentally put two crisp brand new dollars under the pillow instead of one so now the tooth fairy brings $2 for molers....ugh:)!

My kids get $5 for the first tooth. $2 for the next. By the time they are in third grade and they have lost many teeth, it goes down to a dollar.
