I am a nanny for my best friend who is a single mum. Lately, I think that she has begun to get jealous that me and her child spend so much time together. I am more patient than her and I think her child notices. How can I space myself from the child and keep this friendship? Or is it possible that I am seeing too much into this?

I am having a heck of a time trying to figure out what sort of prizes should be given out to the winners... there are both boys and girls coming (7 kids in total including the birthday boy)! I would appreciate any ideas that you have

She was always such a good listener. Now just getting her to clean her room without a battle of fairness is a challenge. I tell her that even though she is older that the rules of the house have not changed. She is a good kid but, what is with the battles over everything?

So i decided that i am going to bring her to the Police Station today, and ask an officer to speak to her about the consequences of calling 911 when there really isn't an emergency. (i.e. They can't help anyone else, because they are busy at the "prank" site.) I've gotten all positive feedback from people i told about my idea, has anyone done this and was it effective? Thanks in advance!

My friend at work's son is really bad and she doesn't know what to do she has been to different doctors and physchiatrist, he has already been kicked out of one school and she doesn't know what to do she is even considering a boarding school for troubled boys but they don't seem to take kids untill 7th grade. He wets his pants and then lies and says it's just water, she found a pile of soiled underwear behind his dresser. He stole a pound of sausage from the fridge and ate it in the middle of the night, and made him sick even though she feeds him a good dinner. He has violent rages at school but not at home where he has to be held by a teacher or he would hurt someone during these fits. The Doctors were no help- If anyone has any suggestions I could tell her let me know I am speechless. She handles it with a lot of patience but she needs proffessional help.

My son is 7 years old and seems to be pretty healthy, except for the fact that over the last 4 months, he has ran a fever that can be controlled and does come down with motrin or tylonal, every 2 or 3 weeks. He doesnt complain of anything "hurting" and of course says that he has a head ache while running a fever. The fever does come down buy as the meds wear off it spikes. I am taking him to the doc. tomorrow morning but I am worried. I am just wondering if I am being parinoid. Anyone every had this happen with one of their children? thanks in advance.

My 10yr old daughter, very bright,A+ student. Very ambitious, but very defiant. We spend a lot of time together doing many different things, so I can't see how it can be she is crying for attention. She is involved in sports so it cannot be bordom, she is not ADHD, Not Bi Polar. She is a normal healthy academically brght child. She does not think about the consequences of her actions before she does stuff.(e.g going for 10mile hikes without telling anyone where she is going) She does stuff that's dangerous and risky(e.g. Climbing trees 50ft tall to see if she can reach the top) She also deliberately disobeys with the excuse she forgot we said no. We have grounded her and taken everything away(she'll sneak out) We have used every punishment other than spanking nothing works. We spanked when she was younger like3 -7yrs. It always worked then but now that she is older I would like to use other discipline but nothing is working. Do some kids only respond to spanking?

accepting authority as being 'all knowing' serves a purpose... for awhile. but at some point in time, children will want to know "WHY do we pledge allegiance to the flag?" "WHY should that person have to live in poverty?" "WHY did daddy have to go to iraq?"

when should we tell them "WHY"? WHAT should we tell them?

I have tried talking to him, I have explained he will not get his way, He has to grow up he is not a baby. When he starts I send him to his room. Trust me I check on him 20 min later and he is still at it. I am getting old, all the whinning drives me crazy, it is very frustating. What can I do?

My 10 year old son is going through this really bad rebellious phase and I have no idea what is going on. Like I said he is 10. He has been showing little to no respect for me and his father. He lies all the time about everything whether it is something that is even worth lying about or not. Sometimes he seems to just lose control and throw these crazy angry fits. Is this possibly the start of puberty or is there a possibilty that there is something bigger that needs to be dealth with? We are a loving and caring family with no history of abuse or assault. Please help, parent to parent.

She has no problem eating proteins or carbs. In fact, she'll eat beef, pork, chicken, even tofu, pastas, rice, potatoes, dairy foods... but it is a nightmare to even suggest any fruits or vegetables (other than raisins) to her. If we go to a restaurant she will cause a scene if we tell her to eat a small, plain ol' dinner salad! (believe me, we don't continue to reward her by taking her out to eat)
When she was younger she used to eat bananas and grapes, apples, oranges, strawberries, carrots, celery, broccoli, peas, green beans.
Now I'm concerned that she is not getting the vitamins and nutrients she needs because she rather dig her heals in and fight us than not eat. We usually serve her the fruit or vegetables before the rest of the meal so that she can get that out of the way and enjoy the rest of her food --but she would rather starve!
Like i said, my concern is that she get the proper nutrition.

When I was only about 2 and 3, I lived just across the street from my great aunt and uncle. My sisters and I would go over to their house, and we would sit at the table and have ice cream. My great uncle would sit at the table and have a coffee cup of whiskey and a cigar. He would tell us about life. Going over there was so fun. We would also have Friday the 13th parties with my great aunt and uncle. I still remembe one of my older cousins trying to scare us with a Jason mask.
