sometimes its just a persistant viral infection and as much as most parents would love to get an Antibiotic ...that isn't always the right course especially if its viral....alternate tylenol 10 mg per kilogram of weight every 4 hours and motrin 10 mg per kilogram if his temp goes up higher than 102.every 6 hours with food in his stomach...children un like adults can tolerate tempertures of 104 -106 without having brain damage...although sometimes with a high temperature they will have a seizure...so keep him lightly dressed give him lots of fluids gatorade is great its like IV fluids and taste better than pediolyte(with fever children dehydrate) and see your doctor in the am....the doctor should atleast do a blood test(cbc) if he doesn't find a sourse for his fever...ie....ear or throat or sinus infection
Good Luck!

My youngest daughter just turned 15 and has done this since she startedschool at 5. She was the HEALTHIEST baby!! And then she just started with the unexplained fevers, her lymph nodes would swell up and she would maybe have a headache or tummy ache, but no 'real' symptoms. She has been tested for mono, leukemia, anemia, TB, sickle cell anemia (she's racially mixed) and a whole slew of other illnesses and they can't find anything that seems to be at the root of all the fevers and malaise. She is an honor student, thank goodness, because she misses SOOO much school. If you send them to school with a fever and they find out about it, they'll just send them back home again, so I just didn't send her. We finally went to an allergy specialist this year, and had her tested for allergies, and we think perhaps we have hit the nail on the head. She is severely allergic to bermuda grass and privet trees, both of which we have in our yard...they prescribed Zyertec and presto!! Not sick since!! I sure hope you find out what's going on with your son... I know from experience how nerve racking and stressful this can be. Good luck, and stay in his corner...no one else will be there! You may have to fight for him, and a good thing to do is keep and take with you to the doc is a journal of what times and how long he gets the fevers. You might add what he ate for supper or lunch, what snacks he's had, if he went to someone else's house that day or the day before... anything that may help explain this.

my son has the same problem. sometimes with my son, though, he actually vomits. the doctor hasn't been able to pin point anything. but i've noticed at home that sometimes it happens when he drinks a full glass of milk before touching his breakfast or if he drinks too much water when he brushes his teeth in the morning. definately go to the doctor, but also pay attention to how he eats because it could be a hunger headache that starts a fever. with my son i have to limit his liquid intake in the morning until he's eaten a full breakfast. but if he does get a headache and fever i have him eat dry cereal or crackers or something like that and i give him childrens tylanol. the dry food soaks up whatever is in the stomach causing the problem. this is just a suggestion, please take your child to a doctor.

My son would get rapid onset 102 fevers, he would get flushed then pale, dizzy, nauseous. By the time I could get him to the doctors he was fine. A few years of this went by and my husband suddenly died from an undiagnosed thyroid problem. The coroner suggested I have my son tested and sure enough he had a hyper-active thyroid. He was having what is called a thyroid-storm. If your doctor doesn't come up with a diagnosis have him check the thyroid. Good luck

My son has something that sounds like the same thing. The Doctors here have claimed it as Abdominal Migrains. He complains of a Stomache Ache and he runs a fever which is controlable with meds. The thing that really sticks out is the every 2-3 weeks. My son is VERY close to that. "JOKING" We thought it might be along the same lines as the monthly thing that happens to my wife. I know, bad thing to say. Please let me know what you find out.

This happened a lot with our son when he was 1-3 years old. It was allergies, even though he didn't always have the runny nose and sneezing & coughing. Zyrtec helped.

My little brother had that when he was that age it turned out to be really bad allergies. He also had to have tubes put in his ears and then he had really bad nose bleeds but once they found the right allergy meds for him he has been fine. But I am sure your doctor will have all of the answers to your delima.

my aunt had that with both her children...
the doctor after much investigation said it was her houskeeping, she cleaned everything with antibacterial cleaner or bleach or disinfectant, it was breading stronger and stronger bacteria in her home and making the kids sick
after some reasearch we found out the only thing in the house that should be cleaned with a disinfectant or antibacterial product is the toilet bowl, she threw out everything that was antibacterial (dish soap hand soap lysol spray etc) and has had no more problems

ear infections but your best bet is the dr if they don't find nothing wrong at the time of your visit then try your best to get him in when the fever is running if you can.
